Greg London – Impressions that Rock! at The Riviera

After performing for 2 and ½ years in Sammy's Showroom at Harrah's, Reno, U.K. singing impressionist Greg London, voted 2009 Entertainer of the Year in Nevada Magazine's reader's poll, has opened his critically acclaimed show, “Greg London's Impressions that Rock! in the Mardi Gras Showroom at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. “Headlining my own show in Las Vegas is a dream come true” , says the performer who grew up in the U.K. When the show first opening, it was originally titled “ICONS”. But, the name was changed to better represent the show’s description.

“Where the ICONS name focused on who I portray in the show, ‘Greg London – Impressions That Rock!’ really explains what it is that I do, which is perform impressions of iconic artists from a variety of genres,” said Greg London. “As we got more and more feedback from audience members, we consistently heard how much they think our show really ‘rocks’ and out of that we got the name ‘Greg London – Impressions That Rock!’.”

What makes London apart from other impressionists is that his focus is on pop icons; superstar singers from a variety of genres with one thing in common. They all rock, and so does his take on them.

Using his life story as a thread to guide us along his career journey, London performs more than three dozen impressions using an occasional prop or wig.

Among the myriad of impressions in London’s vocal repertoire are Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Tina Turner , Ray Charles, Sammy Davis, Jr., Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson, Macy Gray , Tony Bennett, David Cassidy, Dean Martin, David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations, Freddie Mercury/Queen, Barry Manilow, Elton John, Joe Cocker, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Jim Morrison of the Doors, ZZ Top, David Bowie, Axl Rose, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, The Bee Gees, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Julio Iglesias, Tom Jones, Ozzy Osbourne, Kermit The Frog, and the “Phantom of the Opera.” He even impersonates the voice of California “Governator” Arnold Schwarzenegger before the show starts announcing that everyone needs to turn off their cell phones.

Accompanying London on stage are attractive blonde lead guitarist Barbara Leoni and her husband Danny on bass guitar who partakes in some comical back and forth banter with the star of the show. Additional support without distracting from London are a trio of eye catching talented singer/dancers, Amy Geldhof, Christine Richards and Sarah Jessica Rhodes.

In a city known for a multitude of impressionists, Greg London's show is a welcome addition to the Las Vegas strip. As entertainment for the entire family, Greg London Impressions That Rock! indeed rocks. Make that rocks...solid.
