Tape Face Launches House of Tape at Harrah's Las Vegas
America's Got Talent alumnus, Sam Wills, creator and performer of Tape Face, whose signature look is eyes encircled in black shadow and electrical tape across his mouth, officially opened his show in a new, 200 seat custom built venue at Harrah's called the House of Tape on March 16, that was designed especially for him.
The guests during opening weekend were the first to see House of Tape. Sam Wills described the showroom as a sneak peek into the mind of his stage character,Tape Face. Every aspect of the room is adorn in gaffer tape, from the walls and lamp shades to the seats with Tape Face's logo. There is a room in the theatre, called The Social Room that is dedicated to the "silent ones." The walls and ceiling are lined with framed fan art of Tape Face and white boards for visitors to #DrawTapeFace. A couple frames have been left empty for fans who want to tag @tapefaceboy in fan art and get the chance to have their artwork displayed in the Social Room.

The comical entertainer is unique in that he never utters a word. Instead, Tape Face allows the series of clever antics that he creates on stage to say it all. His is an offbeat show, in which he randomly selects members of the audiences to join him on stage and utilizes props that include every day items like staple guns, trash bags, tape measures and a toilet seat to name few. What he does with them not only speaks volumes, it is hilarious. The result is a family friendly, fun show, suitable for people of all ages to enjoy.

Modernist Cuisine Gallery Hosts VIP Party To Unveil Nathan Myhrvold's Newest Collection of Artwork

During the event (which was held the first day of The International Pizza Expo) the team behind the award-winning Modernist Bread book announced the subject matter and name of their next book: Modernist Pizza. The new artwork by Modernist Cuisine founder, coauthor, and photographer Nathan Myhrvold includes four photographs that depict pizza in new and untraditional ways. The photography is available for sale at the gallery. The pizza photography will also be published in Modernist Pizza.
Modernist Pizza will span multiple volumes and include both traditional and innovative recipes for pizzas found around the globe. The book, currently in its early stages, will explore topics like the science, history, equipment, techniques, and the people who have made pizza so beloved. Authors Nathan Myhrvold and Francisco Migoya, with the Modernist Cuisine team, are presently at work conducting extensive research and testing long-held pizza-making beliefs; this quest for knowledge has already taken them to cities across the United States, Italy, and beyond. Their goal is to produce the most comprehensive pizza cookbook in the world.

Pizza is a topic the Modernist Cuisine team began to explore when researching for and writing Modernist Bread. Although Modernist Bread touches on pizza styles like Neapolitan, New York, and Sicilian, the team felt that there was still so much left to discover about pizza. Nathan Myhrvold, founder of The Cooking Lab and lead author of Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking, Modernist Cuisine at Home, The Photography of Modernist Cuisine, and Modernist Bread, stated, “Despite its ubiquity, there’s still a lot to learn about one of the planet’s most popular foods, and our hope is that Modernist Pizza will deliver the story of pizza as it’s never been told before.”

The publication date of Modernist Pizza has not been determined.
Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Unveils Japanese Inspired Display for Spring
With the arrival of spring, Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens has unveiled a Japanese-inspired display, fragrant with 65,000 flowers and botanical materials. Blooming cherry blossoms, tranquil waterfalls and a 26-foot whimsical woman welcome the new season, now through June 3.
Envisioned by designer Ed Libby and Bellagio’s Horticulture team, the new display channels Japanese culture, utilizing a variety of beautiful symbolic elements to honor the dawning of a new season. One of the most treasured elements is also one of the most celebrated in Japan: the spring blooms of cherry blossoms, which are symbolic of the brevity of life and beauty.

Guests enter the gardens through two 25-foot Torii Gates adorned with pink and white flowers. Lining the pathway are eight cherry blossom trees flourishing with delicate pink flowers. Resting at the East Garden’s edge are four potted bonsai trees. Two brightly colored paradise flycatchers soar above the display.
Representing a time of new life and renewal, the West Garden features a whimsical woman rising out of the waters and leaving visitors in awe. Her hair cascades down into a curtain of water encompassing her entire head, which is adorned with Kanzashi, a formal ornamental hairpin. Made from two sticks and flowers, the hairpin is worn in Japanese culture as a good luck charm and wards off evil spirits. Wisteria, an ancient vine representing immortality and longevity, surrounds the majestic figure as she holds a 12-foot-wide white pearl, symbolizing prosperity and beauty.
In the South Garden, passersby encounter a 10-foot-tall stone Japanese lantern, traditionally used to line and illuminate paths. The lantern rests upon a waterfall cascading into a shallow pond. Floating atop the water are multiple blooming pink lotus flowers. The flower is honored throughout Japanese culture for its ability to bloom from the mud of a murky pond – a process which symbolizes attaining enlightenment. Thirteen hand-painted festival lanterns illuminate a soft flickering glow over the garden when dusk arrives.
Honoring the traditional Japanese tea ceremony of grace, etiquette and hospitality that dates back to the ninth century, a Japanese tea house sits on the edge of a pond in the North Garden. The 12-foot-tall house is made of bamboo and other natural materials, and ornamented with mineral copper accents. Sitting on the branch of the cherry blossom tree is an additional paradise flycatcher watching its reflection in the pond below.
Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is complimentary to the public and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
