New York New York Hotel & Casino Hosted 7th Annual St. Baldrick's Day Head Shaving Event
During the 7th annual head-shaving event on Saturday, March 12, New York New York Hotel & Casino raised a record-breaking amount of more than $200,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Celebrity head-shavers, Las Vegas residents and tourists alike came out to cheer on those who who shed their locks in support of childhood cancer research. Crushing last year’s donation of $188,000, New York-New York will give all proceeds from this year’s fun-filled event to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Among the Celebrities and notable personalities that came out to show their support were the hunks from CHIPPENDALES, the cast from FANTASY, vocal quartet Human Nature, cast members of JERSEY BOYS, “Bubble Girl” Charlie Starling from ABSINTHE, cast members of ROCK OF AGES, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, Tournament of Kings and Zumanity, magician and winner of America’s Got Talent Mat Franco, UFC Hall of Famer and former Heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin, local entertainment journalist John Katsilometes, KLUC personalities Chet Buchanan and Spence, KTNV-ABC TV personality Megan Telles, KVVU-FOX TV personalities John Huck and Christine Maddela and KLAS-CBS TV personality Sherry Swensk.

Highlights from this year’s event include:
John W. Bonner Elementary School’s Principal Paul Catania and 36 students, fondly known as the “Bonner Boys,” took turns in the barber chairs and braved a shave, including the original Bonner Boys, Trey and Barrett along with brother and sister Jacob and Maddy. This is the fifth consecutive year the Bonner Boys have shaved their heads to help raise awareness for childhood cancer.
· Cast members from New York-New York’s headlining show, Zumanity, shaved their general manager’s head.
·Mark Shunock, former cast member of ROCK OF AGES, encouraged the crowd to donate $800 to shave one man’s beard.
·Before completely shaving Brian McMullan’s hair, celebrity head-shaver Charlie Starling of ABSINTHE, buzzed Brian’s hair to a Mohawk. Guests had the opportunity to take a selfie with the stylishly-cut John M. McManus, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for MGM Resorts International for $5. Ruth and Brian McMullan, who introduced the St. Baldrick’s event to Vegas, were among the picture-takers.
·All four cast members of Human Nature worked together to shave Pamela Truax’s colorful long locks as she “braved a shave” with the rest of New York-New York’s corporate purchasing team.
Each year, the St. Baldrick’s Day event helps raise awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. The funds generated at this event are crucial in supporting research focused on improving treatment options and finding cures for all types of childhood cancers.

MARRIAGE CAN BE MURDER recently took a stab at preventing heart disease with a $500 donation to American Heart Association Las Vegas. The donation came from a portion of ticket sales at the February 14 brunch show.

ESSENCE VEGAS, Las Vegas’ premier marijuana dispensary and resource center, is introducing Essence Educates: Wellness Wednesdays, a one-of-a-kind, bi-weekly educational program designed to teach current and potential patients about the medical benefits of cannabis, how it’s produced and proper uses. Held every other Wednesday at 7 p.m. The first of event will take place inside the Essence-West location at 5765 W. Tropicana Ave., all Wellness Wednesdays sessions are FREE of charge.

On the heels of kicking-off the fifth year of his critically-acclaimed Las Vegas residency to sold-out crowds, AEG Live and Caesars Entertainment announced that ROD STEWART will return this Aug. with nine just added shows scheduled for August 3, 6, 7, 10, 13, 14, 17, 20 and 21. HASH HOUSE A GO GO is supporting GRANT A GIFT AUTISM FOUNDATION from Monday, March 28 – Saturday, April 2 by inviting pancake lovers to indulge in their signature blueberry pancake while supporting children, youth and families affected by autism living in Nevada. On Friday, April 1, American country artist KANE BROWN will take the stage for an exclusive performance at Double Barrel Roadhouse at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. Local runners and walkers will lace up their shoes to support over 450 elementary and middle school girls at the GIRLS ON THE RUN Las Vegas 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, April 17 at Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex. The celebratory 5k is a culminating experience that gives volunteer running buddies, family members and the local community the opportunity to help Clark County girls memorialize their achievement of a 10-week character building program aimed at enhancing self-esteem and increasing healthy lifestyle choices.The race will include:

Registration is now open for the 2016 Girls on the Run 5K: $35 for adults and $15 for children under 18. TAO Group and Chef Chris Santos will debut BEAUTY & ESSEX at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas this May. The opening marks the second location of the New York City pawn shop, restaurant and lounge that originated in 2010 from the chef who pioneered the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation. The restaurant will be open to the public for dinner starting May 16, 2016.

International superstar Justin Bieber stopped by XS Nightclub, the award-winning venue at Wynn Las Vegas. In town for his “Purpose World Tour,” Bieber arrived shortly after midnight with friends. Spotted in Bieber’s entourage, professional football player Odell Beckham Jr., singer Maejor and Bieber’s Shots app partner Johnny Shahidi. Once inside the club, Bieber jumped into the DJ booth to hang out with David Guetta.

Actor Nicholas Gonzalez, who is set star in the all-new “Empire” spin-off show, celebrated his upcoming nuptials at Marquee Nightclub in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas . The bachelor party took in the night from a VIP table while DJ Vice manned the decks.
