Sgt Pepper Live featuring Cheap Trick at Paris Las Vegas
In 1967 the Beatles released what became one of the most beloved rock albums of all time, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Now, 43 years later, legendary rock group, Cheap Trick, best known for their hit singles “I Want You to Want Me” and “Surrender”, perform the songs from the classic album live on stage at Paris Las Vegas for a limited engagement beginning June 12.
Prior to Cheap Trick arriving on stage, a video is shown with members of the band talking about recreating the songs. Tom Petersson said that John Lennon was quoted as saying, “The Sgt. Pepper album could never be performed live.” Cheap Trick didn't buy into that and according to Petersson's response, “If you love it, it is easy.”
It's never easy when you are trying to recreate music from the best rock and roll band in history. But, Cheap Trick consisting of Petersson on bass and vocals, Rick Neilsen on guitar and vocals, his son Dax on drums and lead vocalist Robin Zander, capture the essence of Sgt. Pepper with their own definitive style to create a spectacular, memorable musical experience.

It's all about the music, with the rock stars performing the entire album and a few of their own songs. There's no special effects, gimmicks, or the guys dressed in lookalike uniforms from the album cover, just great interpretations by accomplished, awesome musicians celebrating the iconic songs with audio production supervised by Geoff Emerick, the renowned engineer of The Beatles’ classic 1967 album. Additional musicians lending their talent are Bill Lloyd on vocals and guitar, Magic Cristian (yes that's his name) on keyboard, and the Sgt. Pepper Symphony and six male back up singers on a 12 foot high elevated orchestra stage. Also featured is an Indian Ensemble (who have performed as part of Sgt. Pepper Live with Cheap Trick in their critically acclaimed, sold out Los Angeles concerts) that join the group on stage for are pitch perfect recreation of the mesmerizing and beautiful "Within You, Without You" sung by Petersson that was, in my opinion, the highlight/standout number in the show.
If you love the Beatles music, or for that matter, in the mood for a great concert experience, Sgt. Pepper Live featuring Cheap Trick, will do, as they say, the trick.
