Human Nature celebrates 1st anniversary at Imperial Palace and Extends Contract for Two Years

“Smokey Robinson Presents Australia's Human Nature – The Ultimate Celebration of the Motown Sound” celebrated its first anniversary at Imperial Palace on Tuesday night, May 11. The singing group has made such an impact on the city, that Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman proclaimed the day “Human Nature Day”. It was also announced that the Imperial Palace has extended Human Nature's contract for two years through May 2012. To mark the significant occasion, the 653-seat showroom has been renamed the Human Nature Theater in their honor. Adding to the excitement is the fact that Human Nature is the first ever Australian singing group to have a longstanding show in Las Vegas and they were recently named “Best Singers” by editors of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

When Human Nature opened at the IP last year I gave them rave reviews. At that time, I predicted they were so good and put on such a great, crowd pleasing show that at the end of their run, they would, no doubt, have their contract extended.

The quartet, made up of Toby Allen, Phil Burton, and brothers Andrew and Michael Tierney, are phenomenally talented young white guys from Australia who have been best friends since high school in Sidney and made their mark in the music business as the most popular vocal group in Australia with an impressive list of chart topping hits and four best selling number one albums that have all gone platinum. Known for their outstanding concert and stage performances, Human Nature has opened for superstars Celine Dion and Michael Jackson during their Australian tours.

Now, the vocal group is taking American audiences by storm with their Las Vegas show thanks to their U.S. mentor, legendary Motown music icon, Smokey Robinson who brought them to the states after being blown away by their audition.

With their dynamic, soulful harmonies and terrific choreography, Human Nature do more than justice to the music of Motown as they perform a high energy selection of classic hits from legendary Motown groups such as The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Miracles and others, backed by a live band. The group electrify the stage as amazing showmen who appear to be getting better and better. If possible, I enjoyed their show even more the second time around.

The show stopper is their accapella version of Baby Baby, but each and every number is contagious, causing the audience to clap and sing along. For the special anniversary show, Smokey Robinson joined the guys on stage with a performance that included his classic hit Tears of a Clown and Whose Lovin You, a song he wrote that he said was performed by an 11 year old Michael Jackson.

Following the show, the anniversary celebration continued at a VIP after party where Smokey Robinson once again joined Human Nature for festivities that included hors devours and a presentation of a special anniversary cake. Also in attendance was female impersonator, Frank Marino and Fantasy star, Angelica Bridges.

“Smokey Robinson Presents Australia's Human Nature – The Ultimate Celebration of the Motown Sound” is produced by Adam Steck, CEO of SPI Entertainment. Performances are six nights a week (dark Friday) at 7:30 p.m. in the Human Nature Theater. Tickets are $49.95 (plus tax and fees) and VIP $59.95 (plus tax and fees).
