Trevi Italian Restaurant in the Forum Shops

On Monday, May 7, Trevi Italian Restaurant at the Forum Shops at Caesars, hosted a media reception to formally introduce itself. Taken from the name of the most famous fountain in the world, the Trevi fountain in Rome, Italy, the restaurant (brasserie) was designed by the Rockwell Group to transport guests to the piazzas of Rome while enjoying great Northern Italian dishes.

Trevi offers café dining, complete with street lamps, where guests can observe others strolling along the avenue. The first floor interior of the restaurant features an open kitchen and boasts custom mosaic glass tile stretching from the brick oven to the grills.

The magnificent mezzanine level, where the reception was held was accessed by a solid teak stair way and features seating that looks out through arched windows into the plaza of the Fountain of the Gods. A 12 foot tall custom glass chandelier hangs from the center rotunda through the opening in the floors. There’s a brown, gold, and orange color scheme accenting polished wooden tables and interiors. A 28-seat oval bar, granite with brown glass lamps, offers appetizers on a daily basis ($5.95 each).

Formerly Bertolini’s, Trevi has retained the formidable services of general manger Nick Catanella, and executive chef Peter Scaturro. In 2000, these two were awarded General Manager of the Year and Chef of the Year, respectively, from the Morton’s Restaurant Group, Inc.

Morton’s Restaurant Group owns and operates Trevi, along with 72 Morton’s steakhouses located in 62 cities across 28 states and four international locations (Toronto, Vancouver, Singapore and Hong Kong). They also own three Bertolini’s Authentic Trattoria restaurants.

Bertolini’s was a trattoria, or simply, an Italian restaurant, where Trevi is a brasserie, which is defined as a restaurant /bar that serves drinks with or without food. Patrons of the Forum Shops are the lucky recipients of the great service and sumptuous fare of its newest establishment.

The Northern Italian cuisine was served buffet style, and featured sausage and peppers, polenta fries, chicken scaloppini, roasted chicken cannelloni, Italian chopped salad, a cheese tray featuring homemade mozzarella, Fettuccini Alfredo, an antipasto plate and roasted vegetable platter. Passed appetizers included tuna tartare, skewered caprese salad, crab/ artichoke/spinach tartlets.

A homemade Gelato station was a popular stop for a triple play of pistachio, tira misu, and chocolate confections. These are made fresh daily.

Especially tempting in the drink category was the frozen Lemon Sorbetini, a blend of Absolut Citron Vodka, sparkling wine and lemon sorbet. This quietly potent libation will sneak up on you in a delightful way. The wine and San Pellegrino flowed freely as well.

General manager Nick Catanella’s philosophy was apparent. “Treat each guest as if they were a guest in your home.” Gracious and attentive servers were solicitous and knowledgeable. They happily composed a vegetarian version of the Italian chopped salad on request and could recite the ingredients of every offered delicacy.

Trevi is a culinary treasure, aptly named. You’ll want to toss your coins into this fountain.
