Mrs. Nevada-America Organization Crowns 2016 Titleholder

The Mrs. Nevada-America 2016 pageant was held at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino on Sunday, February 28.

Zowie Bowie's Chris Phillips and former Mrs. Nevada-America Angie Phillips were the hosts  of the pageant that featured beautiful contestants from across the state who competed in swimsuit, evening gown and interview for the title of Mrs. Nevada America 2016. When all the judges votes were tallied,  Lauren Cahlan was crowned the winner and will represent Nevada at the Mrs. America pageant, held locally at the Westgate Hotel and Casino on Thursday, Aug. 25.

As Mrs. Nevada-America, Cahlan hopes to bring awareness to women’s and children’s issues as a titleholder. She currently donates her time to The Shade Tree and is passionate about continuing her work with organizations that empower women. As a Senior Account Executive at Wicked Creative public relations, Cahlan works with a variety of hospitality, nightlife and entertainment clients, locally and nationally.

For the tenth consecutive year, the Irish pub trade in Las Vegas is raising funds to research and conquer childhood cancer, spearheaded by a gala HEAD SHAVING PARTY on Saturday, March 5th from 11 a.m. until 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 6th. During the 16-hour period, the benefit will have scores of celebrities, bands, special performers and regular folks taking part in fighting childhood cancer.

McMullan’s Irish Pub, located on Tropicana and Cameron, is the headquarter for the event and has been for the past nine years and is delighted to work with 8th-year participant Nine Fine Irishmen at New York, New York, 5th-year participant RiRa Irish Pub at Mandalay Bay and 3rd-year participant Vinyl Lounge at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Masters of ceremonies for the shaving of an estimated 450 volunteers include TV personality, Robin Leach; TV newsmen, Nate Tannenbaum; TV news personalities, Gerard Ramalho and Elizabeth Watts; Entertainer, Clint Holmes and Kelly Clinton Holmes; Starsky and Hutch’s Huggy Bear, Antonio Fargas; Jennifer Romas with the Sexxy cast, CBS Radio morning show host, Carlos Diaz and Spence and many more. Extensive radio remotes will originate on local CBS-owned FM and AM stations and the event can be streamed live from computers around the world. Following the successful opening of its Essence-West location in mid-February, Essence Vegas has announced the opening of ESSENCE -THE STRIP, its second location in the Las Vegas Valley and the first and only marijuana dispensary on the famed Las Vegas Strip, Located at 2307 S. Las Vegas Blvd., on Wednesday, March 9. Essence Vegas services are 100% legal, entirely safe and totally confidential to protect privacy. All services are performed by highly-trained consultants and the only on-staff Registered Nurse (RN) working for a dispensary in Las Vegas, who is available for one-on-one consultations with patients. All professional team members are available to discuss dosing and best practices with patients.

Essence Vegas will follow with its third location in Henderson in late March and its 54,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, pharmaceutical grade cultivation and processing facility this spring.

ADOPT A PET OF LAS VEGAS (AAP) will participate in NEVADA'GIVES’ fifth annual statewide online charity event, Nevada’s Big Give, for a 24-hour period of giving beginning at 12 a.m. on Thursday, March 10.  ARP will join other Nevada nonprofits for a day of charitable giving through an online platform. Nevadans across the state are encouraged to donate to their favorite charity along with learning more about new and different nonprofit organizations. Participants may donate by logging on to www.NVBigGive.org and searching “Adopt A Rescue Pet.” To date, Nevada’s Big Give has raised more than $2 million for hundreds of Nevada charities.

One of Las Vegas’ favorite Irishmen, ‘funologist’ John O’Donnell, will host a festive St. PATRICK'S DAY BASH at CRUSH inside MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Doors will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, and CRUSH's popular bartender, O’Donnell will do what he does best, serve up plenty of beer and Irish whiskey while bringing people together for toasts and good spirits. Plus, Corporate Executive Chef William DeMarco will serve a special Irish spread of Corned Beef, Cabbage, Soda Bread and a draft beer, priced at $20.16; and a Brown Ale Irish Lamb Stew served with fingerling potatoes and baby carrots, accompanied by a Red Hydrant brown ale, priced at $20.16.CRUSH will also bring the sounds of Ireland to the celebration with group of bagpipers set to play traditional Irish tunes throughout the evening. From 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., guests will enjoy $10 pizzas, $6 draft beers and $5 wines, served exclusively in the bar area.

For the first time in nearly a decade, BELLAGIO GALLERY OF FINE ART (BGFA) will feature a photography exhibit with the unveiling of YOUSAF KARSH: ICONS OF THE 20th CENTURY, on March 18. Recognized as one of the greatest portrait photographers of the 20th century, Karsh’s work showcases some of the most notable men and women in Hollywood, the arts, sports and politics.  Organized in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Yousuf Karsh: Icons of the 20th Century will feature 60 portraits ranging from Winston Churchill and Pablo Picasso to Muhammad Ali and Grace Kelly. In addition to viewing the iconic portraits, the audio tour included with admission will guide guests through the exhibit as they uncover the unique story behind each portrait. The new exhibit will be on view March 18 through September 5.  Tickets to BGFA are $16; $14 for Nevada residents and seniors 65 and older; students, teachers and military with valid ID. Children 12 and younger are free. For groups of 10 or more, the gallery offers special pricing of $12 per person.

Colorado-born jam band THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT returns to Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas at The Linq for an unforgettable three-night musical experience, with nightly shows at 9 p.m. March 18 - 20, 2016. Doors open each night at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $59.50 (plus applicable service fees).

Grammy award-winning funk group, THE COMMODORES, will appear live in concert at Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada. This one-night-only show is set for Saturday, March 19 with doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $21.80 each and room packages including two concert tickets and a one-night stay at Buffalo Bills are available for $99.95 plus taxes and fees.

THE POLICE UNITY TOUR returns to Sam’s Town Live! as local classic rock cover band ROCK CANDY performs hits from legends like Led Zeppelin, Journey, Van Halen and many more, on March 19 at 8 p.m..
   The Police Unity Tour is a nonprofit organization dedicated to help raising awareness about the members of law enforcement who lost their lives in the line of duty. The tour also helps to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum.  Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming box office. Tickets will be available at the door for $15, starting at 7 p.m. the night of the show.



On stage together for the first time since 1973, the ORIGINAL SANTANA BAND featuring: Carlos Santana (guitar, vocals), Gregg Rolie (keyboards, lead vocals), Neal Schon (guitar, vocals), Michael Carabello (percussion), and Michael Shrieve (drums), will reunite on March 21 in Las Vegas at the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino for a very special live performance that will be filmed for television and DVD release. Fans are invited to come be a part of television history as the super group takes them on a musical journey, touching upon the first three Santana albums, and introducing fans to songs from the forthcoming release of their new studio album, Santana IV.   Tickets for this special event go on sale tomorrow, Saturday, March 5 at 10 a.m. All tickets are $29.50 plus tax and fees and are general admission, standing room only tickets. Doors are at 6:30 p.m., filming begins at 8 p.m. Fans won’t want to miss this historic filming and live concert event. All guests must be 18 years of age or older with a valid photo ID to enter the venue. 

THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS,  featuring Bill Medley with Bucky Heard,  bring the legendary sound of “blue-eyed soul” to Harrah’s Las Vegas's showroom beginning Wednesday, March 23.  Bill Medley and Bucky Heard will take audiences through the legendary music stylings of one of the greatest rock and roll duos of all time.The Righteous Brothers featuring Bill Medley with Bucky Heard will perform Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., beginning Wednesday, March 23. Tickets range in price from $39 – $125, plus taxes and fees, and are available at the Harrah’s Las Vegas box office.

Fremont Street Experience will be hosting a SLOTZILLA CHARITY CHALLENGE to benefit THE ANIMAL FOUNDATION. Fremont Street Experience will be donating 100% of SlotZilla revenue to the charity on Thursday, March 24 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a 1 p.m. kickoff event where members from The Animal Foundation; dog ambassadors and their furry friends; and FOX Sports Pit Reporter Jamie Little, will be on-site taking pictures and flying on SlotZilla. Flight times can be purchased at the SlotZilla box office or can be booked in advance online at www.vegasexperience.com. Flights are $20 before 6 p.m. and $25 after 6 p.m. for the lower Zipline and $40 before 6 p.m. and $45 after 6 p.m. for the upper Zoomline.  SlotZilla ticketing, will call and check-in office is located next to the SlotZilla takeoff tower on Fremont Street between 4th Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. Parking is available at Fremont Street Experience parking garage with entrance off 4th Street just north of Carson.

Following four sold-out shows in 2015, RICHARD CHEESE & LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE will return to  Sunset Station for a performance in Club Madrid on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 8:30 p.m. Richard Cheese performs swingin’ Vegas versions of rock, rap and Top-40 hits, “swankifying” contemporary songs into traditional pop vocal standards. Imagine Frank Sinatra singing Radiohead and you’ve got Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine. Tickets start at $25.

Sicilian born, romantic singer, GENE FERRARI, whose vocal style has been compared to Engelbert Humperdinck and Tom Jones, will perform with the Mariano Long Orchestra,  for one night only at the Italian American Club, 2255 East Sahara, on Saturday, March 26.   Showtime is 8 pm. Tickets are $25.00

Actor Gerard Butler was spotted at Marquee Nightclub in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas with friends. The group took in the party from a VIP cabana while DJ Benny Benassi manned the decks.

Also at Marquee was social media stars Christian Delgrosso and Rudy Mancuso. The group was delighted with a celebratory presentation from the Marquee staff in honor of Mancuso’s recent birthday.

At TAO Nightclub in The Venetian NFL star Prince Amukamara was seen celebrating his friend’s upcoming nuptials as DJ Politik provided the soundtrack to the night.
