I Love Las Vegas December Issue Release Party at Café Martorano

The release of I Love Las Vegas Magazine’s December 2008 issue was celebrated with a cocktail reception at Martorano’s Café on Thursday, December 4. Located on the second level of The Rio’s Masquerade Village, the Café provided an elegant atmosphere of dark wood, decoratively draped fabric panels, and blue mood lighting for the event.

Contributing Editor Carole McCabe-Joy was on hand to welcome guests in the intimate lounge area. Complimentary copies of the December issue, a standard sized version with a cover titled Holiday Sparkles showing headliners and ornaments, as well as a mini-version featuring the National Finals Rodeo, were made available to attendees. The back cover of each held the smiling, tuxedoed countenance of none other than master magician Lance Burton.

Published twelve times annually by one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, Westgate Resorts, each issue of the glossy, upbeat publication includes information about Las Vegas attractions, shows, shopping and dining. Along with lifestyle articles and Downtown/Strip maps, the stunningly colorful pages are packed full of entertainment options, including concerts, gaming, nightlife, museums, comedy, and magic. Also featured are useful tourist tips and articles on day trips and hotels. Westgate Resorts employees promote I Love Las Vegas throughout Southern Nevada, with a circulation of 1.8 million copies per year. A single issue is priced at $3.95, and the yearly subscription price is a bargain at $14.99.

Café Martorano’s Chef Francisco created a quintet of hot appetizers including gnocchi in cream sauce, broiled calamari, single meatballs served in individual spoons, orrichiette pasta in pancetta cream and a grilled octopus in its own little bamboo boat. For vegetarian guests, he graciously created a layered Caprese salad, incorporating eggplant, covered in a balsamic reduction.

Our server, Marian, kept the various gourmet offerings in rotation, always with a smile visible even in the twilight of the lounge. Featured drinks from sponsor Ciroc Vodka included a Basil-tini with muddled strawberries and basil leaves, and a French Martini with pineapple juice. No wonder there's a four-hour wait on Saturday nights. I Love Las Vegas Magazine would know that sort of thing, of course. Read it regularly and you will, too.
