Martin Nievera Sells Out The M’s Pavilion For His 35th Anniversary Concert

International singing sensation Martin Nievera made his twice a year stop here in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 2; as usual, he sold out the 2,300 seat M Pavilion. This concert marked the anniversary of his 35 years performing.

Born in Manila, Philippines in 1962; Martin grew up most of his life in Hawaii. His father, Bert Nievera was one of the founding members and lead singer of the poplar Hawaiian group Society of Seven. For a short time, Martin and his family lived in the San Francisco Bay area where he graduated from high school. In 1980 after graduation, Martin moved back the Philippines to start his singing career. Due to his amazing talent and charming personality, he quickly became a huge hit!

Over his 35-year career, Martin has had: 18 platinum, 5 double platinum, 3 triple platinum, and 1 quadruple platinum albums. He was a judge on The X Factor Philippines and the host of the hit variety show ASAP on the ABS-CBN Network in the Philippines.

Las Vegas residents and tourists remember Martin from his guest starring appearances with the Society of Seven’s long running afternoon show at The Flamingo Las Vegas and for his own daily show at Planet Hollywood. I have personally known Martin for over 6 years and I will be the first to tell you that he is one of the funniest, most sincere and humble people you will ever meet!

Joining Martin onstage for this special occasion was the hit group Society of Seven. This show marked the 50th anniversary of that group performing. This was truly a family reunion with both celebrating such milestones in their careers. Society of Seven spent most of their career performing and living in Asia and Hawaii; but they have called Las Vegas home for the past several years.

Interesting backstage story about Martin: As a young boy growing up, Donny Osmond was one of Martin’s biggest singing inspirations. His dad took him to one of Donny’s concerts and afterwards waited in line for over an hour to finally have the chance to meet and shake the hand of his longtime idol. Martin’s anticipation was growing as he was getting closer and closer to meeting Donny. Just as Martin was the next person in line to shake his hand, Donny announced to the rest of the people waiting, “Sorry everyone, but time is up and I have to leave.” Words cannot describe the hurt and disappointment that Martin felt as he watched Donny walk away; after he was so close to finally having a dream come true. It was at that moment Martin said to himself, “If I ever become a big star, I will never do that to any of my fans!” And to this day, Martin holds the meet and greet record of waiting for over 6 hours after a concert to make sure he met everyone in line. He is one of the few entertainers who require a meet and greet line after every concert so he can meet his adoring fans. Martin is a true professional, amazing talent, and truly cares about his fans!
