FIRST Food & Bar Hosts the 3rd Annual Shuck & Swallow Charity Event
FIRST Food & Bar inside The Shoppes at The Palazzo hosted the third annual Shuck & Swallow event Wednesday afternoon, August 1. Acting as emcees were X1075’s morning team Dave & Mahoney. The charity event brought out Vegas’ top chefs in a battle to see who can shuck and swallow the most oysters within 8 minutes.
The winning team was Daniel Veliz and Ryan Huff, from P.J. Clarke's who shucked and swallowed 125 oysters. They won a Shuck & Swallow trophy, a trip to Costa Mesa for the big championship in 2012. …and of course bragging rights.

Burlesque Queen Dixie Evans Honored at her 85th Birthday Bash
Some of the best performers from past and present gathered for a glamorous gala to commemorate the reigning queen of burlesque, Dixie Evans's 85th birthday on Saturday, September 3 at the newly-renovated Royal Resort. Dubbed the “Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque” by Harold Minsky, no one has inspired generations of performers and done more to preserve the history and art of burlesque than Evans.

The “Dixie Evans Birthday Bash” featured an all-star line-up to honor the icon including Mistress of Ceremonies Kitten on the Keys and such starlets of shimmy as Las Vegas’ troupe Cabernet Dance, Kitten DeVille, Kalani Kokonuts, Renea’ LeRoux, Angie Pontani, Rita Star, and Vi Vacious; along with legends Miss Nude Universe 1975 Tiffany Carter, Shannon Doah, two-time Miss Nude Universe and Russ Meyer vixen Kitten Natividad and “Queen of the Fire Tassels,” Satan’s Angel, who last graced the Royal’s stage in 1975.

During the show, Evans sipped champagne and shared her star table with friend Tempest Storm. Afterwards VIP guest enjoyed a champagne toast and cupcakes at a private party poolside with performances by local lovelies Cha Cha Velour who popped out of a big cake, burlesque contortionist Miss Charlamay, Miss Karla Joy and Absinthe’s Melody Sweets. The “Shimmering Chanteuse” closed the night with a rousing rendition of “Slice of Heaven” before joining others in the pool.
“They say big girls don’t cry, but I sure cried,” said Evans. “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to all of my girls and everyone with Frederic Apcar Productions for making this amazing party possible.”
At 85 years young with no signs of stopping, Evans is already planning for a Christmas Spectacular in Las Vegas this December.

The 25th ANNUAL BLACK & WHITE PARTY, a fundraiser to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) that was held at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Saturday, August 27, raised more than $135,000, surpassing last year’s total.
The IGGY AND THE STOOGES concert set for Saturday, Sept. 10 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has been postponed. Band frontman Iggy Pop. sustained multiple fractures to his left foot during the band’s headlining appearance in Romania on Aug. 27 when he tripped over a microphone stand. Dr. Frank Smith of the Cayman Orthopedic Group has confirmed a pair of fractures in the metatarsal of Pop’s left foot and instructed the singer to take a six to eight week hiatus from performing.
A new concert date will be announced once Pop receives medical clearance. Show tickets for the Sept. 10 date will be valid for the rescheduled date. Ticketholders are encouraged to hold on to their tickets for the new date. Refunds are also available at the ticketholders point-of-purchase.
After 5 years, JET NIGHTCLUB inside The Mirage closed its doors on Monday night, September 5.
MGM Grand Hotel & Casino and KÀ by Cirque du Soleil will be featured in the finale episode of ABC’s ‘Bachelor Pad’ airing on ABC TV, Monday, September 12 at 8 p.m. PST. For the ultimate $250,000 prize, the remaining four couples, Graham and Michelle, Michael and Holly, Kasey and Vienna and Kirk and Ella will compete in a gravity-defying challenge normally performed only by Cirque du Soleil artists.
Chateau Nightclub & Gardens, located at Paris Las Vegas, will host the grand finale of $100,000 BIKINI CALENDAR SEARCH on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The summer-long contest has featured hundreds of gorgeous hopefuls looking to win the top prize as well as a spread on the pages of the Chateau 2012 bikini calendar. The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize as well as an exotic beach vacation for two. Each of the top five finalists will receive cash prizes, and all top 10 winners will receive prize packages.
Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada presents “WHERE ART THOU”, Thursday, September 15 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Bar & Bistro at The Arts Factory located in the Downtown Arts District at 107 E. Charleston Blvd. #155. “Where Art Thou 2” will feature five local artists from the community and all artwork is for sale.

PEACE FROG, a tribute to The Doors, will perform in Henderson, Friday, September 16 at 8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District, opening the fall season of the city’s signature series, ArtBeat presented by Target. The special concert, which comes 40 years following the loss of The Doors’ legendary lead vocalist Jim Morrison, will feature classic songs forever etched in rock history including chart-topping hits like “Hello, I Love You” and “Light My Fire,” as well as fan favorites like “L.A. Woman,” “Riders on the Storm” and “The End.” Admission is FREE.
LAKE LAS VEGAS' INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR, canceled due to rain on July 3, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17 at 8:30 p.m. In addition to the fireworks show there will be live entertainment with a performance by The Walt Blanton Quintet, and an exhibition by extreme artist Jean Francois. The evening's festivities are FREE and open to the public of all ages. The Village Lake Las Vegas is located at 15 Costa di Lago in Henderson.
Brooklyn-based hip-hop star FABOLOUS is set to perform at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 9 p.m. with special guests Jadakiss and Styles P. Tickets are $39, $49, $69 & $89, plus any additional service fees.
The City of Henderson has partnered with BETTIE PAGE CLOTHING to debut the first-ever Super Run fashion show at this year’s classic car show scheduled for Thursday, September 22 – Sunday, September 25. Models will hit the runway, unveiling the boutique’s fall 2011 collection, Saturday, September 24 at 7 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. The award-winning musical JERSEY BOYS will conclude its run at the Palazzo Las Vegas at the end of this year and re-open at Paris Las Vegas in early 2012. Exact dates for both the final performance at the Palazzo and opening at Paris will be announced at a later date. “All of us in the JERSEY BOYS family are grateful for the support of the Palazzo and Las Vegas Sands Corp. over the last three years,” said Michael David, the producer of Jersey Boys.

Electronic music group, 3OH!3, kicked off Labor Day Weekend in Las Vegas with a special performance at PURE Nightclub inside Caesars Palace. Arriving to the Vegas hotspot around midnight the chart-topping pair, Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte, and their large entourage were escorted to one of the luxe VIP tables located on the main stage.
Adult entertainment super star, Ron Jeremy, made an impromptu stop by Posh Boutique Nightclub located inside PLAYGROUND adult entertainment and nightlife complex.

At TAO Beach Christina Milian was spotted in the DJ booth with DJ Reach as he spun for pool goers while EDX and Markus Schulz kept the party going at Marquee Dayclub.
Saturday night LMFAO and DJ Vice rocked the crowd at TAO Nightclub while Z-Trip held court at LAVO. Redfoo, SkyBlu and the 30 person strong Party Rock crew performed at TAO for the packed club.
Taking in the scene from a table on the dance floor were Paris and Nicky Hilton SkyBlu led the entire club in singing “Happy Birthday” to Redfoo in celebration of his 36th birthday and the birthday boy was surprised with a four tiered cake from Gimme Some Sugar.
Earlier in the evening Paris and Nicky fueled up for the party with dinner at LAVO. After partying at TAO they hit Marquee nightclub.
At Marquee DJs Blake Jarrell, Avicii and Cosmic Gate packed the club. Deadmau5 checked out the scene after his concert at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Music superstar Akon put on a phenomenal performance to close out the Labor Day Weekend at Gallery Nightclub at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
Also spotted at Gallery Nightclub was pop music star, Ryan Cabrera with a group of friends.
Superstar DJ Erick Morillo played a 10 hour set in honor of his 10th show at TAO Las Vegas. He drew notable names from the DJ world including Sebastian Ingrosso, Kaskade, Pete Tong, Redfoo and Chuckie. Dirty South and Afrojack were also on hand and even jumped into the booth with Morillo at one point. R&B artist Maxwell was spotted in the crowd as well as Paris and Nicky Hilton.
DJ Vice held court at LAVO for Vice Sundays, where Redfoo was spotted Party Rocking.
At Marquee, Paris and Nicky Hilton returned to check out Dirty South’s set. The sisters were joined by a group of friends. Also spotted was DJ Afrojack.
Muggs from Cypress Hill was in the Boom Box Room supporting his friend DJ Honky Kong.
Earlier in the day DJ Chuckie and Fat Boy Slim took over Marquee Dayclub, spinning from a special DJ booth set up in the middle of the pool while Robbie Rivera entertained crowds at TAO Beach for Beatport Sunday.

Monday, September 5...
The holiday weekend wrapped up with a celebration at Marquee that lasted from day until night. Porter Robinson, Benny Benassi and Gareth Emery manned the decks. Benassi treated fans to a live vocal performance from Gary Baker with the hit “Cinema” and later LFMAO and the Party Rock crew took over the booth for one song as they filmed a music video.
Benny Benassi returned at night followed by DJ Chuckie, drawing notable names including Paris Hilton and DJs Kaskade and Axwell. Around 3 am the crowd was in store for another surprise with a performance from Redfoo and Skyblu of LMFAO. Apl.de.ap from the Black Eyed Peas even got on the mic as well.

The best names in electronic music collided under one roof at XS Nightclub . With Skrillex, Afrojack and R3HAB on the lineup, guest appearances were bound to happen once XS was named the official after party location for Identify Festival. Tthe night included appearances from Deadmau5, Kaskade, Sebastian Ingrosso, AN21, will.i.am, NERO and Manufactured Superstars.
R3HAB kicked off the holiday on the venue’s high-tech production, equipped with three video screens that wrapped around the entire backdrop of the stage. Afrojack took the stage shortly after 1 a.m.
Shortly after taking the stage, Skrillex was joined again by Afrojack and surprises guest Steve Aoki for a one-of-a-kind set by all three talented artists. Immediately after, Deadmau5 climbed on stage to lend his talents to the evening’s soundtrack as well. XS Managing Partner Jesse Waits got in on the action, taking a few seconds on the deck with Afrojack, Sebastian Ingrosso and R3HAB watching his skills.
Deadmau5 was seen on stage hanging out with his girlfriend Lindsey Gayle and their close friend, PEEPSHOW star Holly Madison.
Other notable musical talents poured into XS including The Swedish producer and DJ, Sebastian Ingrosso, AN21 who performed Saturday night as part of Steve Angello’s Size Matters party, the UK duo NERO, legendary artist Kaskade and XS Resident DJs Manufactured Superstars.
