United Way’s Women Leadership Council holds Annual Outreach Event

United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) held its annual outreach event at MJ Christensen Diamonds on Wednesday, Oct. 13. to engage current members and attractive prospective members. More than 65 local influential women were in attendance, and the event raised awareness for United Way’s community-based agenda designed to promote lasting change.

“We are excited at the opportunity to gather and recognize the power of women’s philanthropy in the community,” said Judy Kropid, co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Council. “We welcome our new members and will continue to plan creative and beneficial events that serve both the needs of our members and the community.”

Centered around the theme ‘Hearts On Fire for Philanthropy,’ those in attendance enjoyed an exclusive breakfast and were able to meet Owner and CEO, Cliff Miller and his wife Darlene. In addition, guests received an exclusive, one-day only professional consideration on purchases at the event. There was also a chance for the women to be entered into a gift opportunity drawing to win an 18 karat gold Hearts On Fire diamond pendant necklace.

As a benefit to its many members, the Women’s Leadership Council continually organizes meaningful social and educational activities that align with the mission of United Way. Currently, the organization is gearing up to host its fall suit drive on Friday, Nov. 12 to benefit women in need. In the past, the group has collected more than 2,000 women’s suits and professional clothing and donated them to local women’s shelters and Goodwill Career Connections.

The Women’s Leadership Council now boasts a membership of 140. Since its inception in November 2007, the organization has garnered a combined contribution that has exceeded $650,000.
