On Wednesday, Aug. 25, Penn Jillette, the outspoken half of the comedy-magic duo Penn & Teller, sheared 10 inches of his signature ponytail with the help of his devious cohort Teller to benefit Locks of Love at the Rio Spa at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Penn has been sporting the look for almost 25 years, and while he has not had it insured like other stars and their famed attributes, the locks were considered priceless.

TripAdvisor has recently named Fremont Street Experience was recently named as one of the “Top 10: Free Things To Do in the United States” by TripAdvisor. Fremont Street Experience is listed alongside other famous U.S. attractions and even a national monument. Also included on the list are: the Big Apple Greeter and the Staten Island Ferry in New York, the Pearl Harbor exhibit in Hawaii, the Garden of Gods in Colorado, Samuel Adams Brewery in Massachusetts, the Jelly Belly Factory in California, Hershey’s Chocolate World in Pennsylvania, the St. Louis Zoo in Missouri, and D.C. by Foot in Washington, D.C.
MGM Grand announced an extraordinary number of wins for the 2010 Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards which recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections that complement their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine enthusiasts. An astounding 11 MGM Grand restaurants including Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak, NOBHILL TAVERN, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, SEABLUE, Diego, Pearl, Shibuya, Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House, Wolfgang Puck’s Bar & Grill and Fiamma Trattoria garnered awards this year, more than any other single property in the world. Joël Robuchon’s wine program received top honors and “three glasses” with The Grand Award. In total, MGM Grand restaurants amassed an astonishing 19 glasses this year, setting the record for the most at a single property.
The Venetian, one of the world’s most recognizable and luxurious destination resorts, has been honored with the highly coveted Gold Key ‘Elite’ and Gold Platter ‘Elite’ awards by Meetings and Conventions magazine for 2010. Only five prestigious domestic and international properties earn the ‘Elite’ status in each award category, based on readers’ experiences. For the fifth year, The Venetian has won ‘Elite’ awards in both categories and is the only property in Las Vegas to achieve this status consistently. This marks the eleventh consecutive year The Venetian has received the Gold Key award and the ninth consecutive year for the Gold Platter award.
The Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center will president an exhibit titled “Viva Frida”, showcasing the work of revolutionary Mexican folk artist Frida Kahlo Las Vegas August 26 through September 17. The exhibit, presented by the Consulate of Mexico in Las Vegas and co-sponsored by Las Vegas Design Center, includes 34 images of her art and life providing a unique glimpse into the mind of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. It coincides with the celebration of Mexico's Independence Bicentennial on September 15, and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution on November 20. The World Marker Center is located at 495 S. Grand Central Parkway in downtown Las Vegas.

Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina at Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino hosts UFC's Edgar vs. Penn viewing party Saturday, August 28, starting at 7 p.m. The re-match of the year will broadcast live on 10 high-definition big screen televisions. Admission is $20 and includes access inside the viewing party where UFC enthusiasts will catch all the action live from the best seats in the house. The first ever Boston-based UFC fight will not only showcase the much anticipated Edgar vs. Penn re-match, but also the UFC and MMA debut of James Toney fighting Vegas local and UFC legend, Randy Couture.

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall launches a new weekly “supper club”—Wes Winters’ 88 Key Club—located at Café in the Park, beginning September 3 and 4 and continuing every Friday and Saturday from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Wes Winters’ 88 Key Club will offer an exciting night out for dinner, cocktails and dancing to the live music of Las Vegas showman Wes Winters. The Nevada Restaurant Association (NvRA) and The Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino will host the Las Vegas Epicurean Affair on Thursday, September 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will be held poolside at the Palazzo where guests will savor samplings of cuisine and cocktails from nearly 75 renowned restaurants and beverage purveyors. The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair is open to the public. General admission tickets are $100 each . VIP tickets are available at $150 per person for early admission at 6:00 p.m.

In honor of MAGIC, the world's largest fashion trade event, Tryst Nightclub inside the Wynn Las Vegas welcomed Paris Hilton to celebrate the launch of her Spring 2011 Shoe Collection and her newly released fragrance TEASE. The hotel heiress arrived on the pink carpet with a full entourage including parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton. She stole the show as fans gathered around to get a glimpse of the socialite as she showed off a pair of black peep-toe pumps from her new collection. Also in the house was special guest DJ Jermaine Dupri working the turntables.

Primp Clothing party was held at miX Lounge inside THEhotel at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Celebrities and VIPs came out in droves to support the Spring 2011 collection and the launch of Primp Kore, a fun and flirty women’s clothing and accessories line that was a hit as celebs doned their favorite pieces on the carpet.
First to arrive was Dancing With The Stars sweetheart, Karina Smirnoff, looking radiant in a white mini dress with flesh peep toe heels. Prior to hitting the carpet, Smirnoff dined with friends at the exquisite miX restaurant. After dinner, Smirnoff sparkled on the carpet as she posed with various Primp Clothing handbags.
Also on the carpet was Brandi Cyrus, Everlife singer Julia Ross, and Frank and Derol musician Codi Caraco. All three girls posed with hip Primp handbags before heading upstairs to celebrate with Smirnoff. Making a guest appearance was Damian Whitewood, another DWTS alum who recently partnered with Pam Anderson on the hit television show. Others to hit the carpet were America’s Got Talent alum Recycled Percussion, actor Vincent De Paul, US Weekly journalist Suzanne Marquese, Primp designer Wells Butler, and owner of Primp Clothing Greg Lorber.
