Celebrities And Poker Players Raise Over $42,000 In Pokerstars.Net NAPT Venetian Charity Tournament

PokerStars.net brought top celebrities and the best players in the U.S. to the poker table in Las Vegas on Friday, February 19.  to support Three Square, a local food charity.  All proceeds from the $540 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Tournament go to the organization, which aims to end hunger in the valley by providing wholesome, nutritious food to non-profit organizations that serve a wide range of Southern Nevadans in need.

The Versace Group opened its second boutique in Las Vegas on Saturday, February 13, marking the 10th Versace store to be opened in the U.S. The 2,500-square-foot boutique is located in Crystals at CityCenter and features the new all-white design concept complete with exquisite white leather-padded walls, white suede-lined niches and a selection of chaise lounges.

Customers will be able to check out complete collections of Versace Men’s and Women’s Ready-To-Wear, Runway Handbags, Fine Jewelry, Timepieces, Versace Home.  Additionally by appointment, VIP clients can relax in the 130-square-foot private fitting room for the ultimate luxury shopping experience.

After two years inside Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino, Hawaiian Tropic Zone closed its doors Sunday February 21th. PBR Rock Bar, a restaurant and bar concept, will assume the space occupied by Hawaiian Tropic Zone inside Miracle Mile Shops. The opening of PBR Rock Bar is scheduled for Spring 2010.

Although Casino MonteLago is closing, MonteLago Village Resort, a separate entity, continues to be open providing services to customers. The business operations of MonteLago Village Resort will not be affected by the closing of the Casino MonteLago.

“Little Tony” performs as Keith Urban, the newest addition to the Country Superstars Tribute Show in the Showroom at Whiskey Pete’s Hotel & Casino in Primm, Nevada. Additional tribute artists include Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, Charlie Daniels, Trisha Yearwood and Big & Rich. Showtime for the 75-minute production is 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $21.95.

Donna Egan of Reading, Pennsylvania was the big winner at Hooters Casino Hotel on February 17, her 60th birthday.  She won the progressive jackpot for $108,060.33 on her favorite slot machine, Monopoly.

In a state-wide effort to encourage and celebrate reading, Henderson Libraries celebrate Nevada Reading Week, March 1-5.  The Henderson Libraries will kick off the celebration with an event on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Galleria Library in the Galleria, located at 1300 W. Sunset Road, near Stephanie Street in Henderson Sunset. The event, which will run from 2-3 p.m., will feature local author Lewis Kimberly, who will entertain the audience with tales of Granny McFanny, the leading character in Kimberly’s children’s books. Granny McFanny will also make a guest appearance and children will have the opportunity to create a Granny McFanny-themed craft. Kimberly will also be available after her reading to sell and sign copies of her book.

The UNLV Department of Music presents the 10th Annual African-American Music Celebration on Sunday, February 28 at 6p.m. in Doc Rando Concert Hall located on the northeast end of the university campus in Beam Music Building. More than 100 performers will participate. Admission to this popular annual concert is free and features the UNLV vocal students, ensembles, and solo performances by undergraduate and graduate voice majors.

The Los Angeles Police Department will host the 2010 Annual Conference of California Homicide Investigators Association (CHIA) March 2 – 5, 2010 at the Palms Casino Resort. The 2010 CHIA Conference, as is typical for professional association conferences, will provide those associated with homicide investigations, continuing education, training and networking opportunities. A unique aspect of the conference will be a first-ever “Behind-The-Scenes” look at some of the most notable homicides and critical incidents that occurred in Los Angeles over the past 100 years. Admission to the event will be limited to CHIA members on Tuesday March 2, 2010 and then open free of charge to the general public on March 3 and March 4, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Nevada Alliance for Defense, Energy and Business and The Jewish Federation of Las Vegas are co-sponsoring a forum on energy security entitled 'America’s Power Portfolio: What is Nuclear Energy’s Role’ on March 4, 2010.  The event will be held at the Atomic Testing Museum (755 E. Flamingo Rd.) at 6:30 p.m. A wine and cheese reception will begin at 6:00 p.m.

A fundraising concert featuring a star studded lineup of Las Vegas entertainers will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, for singer/musical conductor Bill Fayne who developed complications in his recovery from major surgery for cancer (due to his diabetes). Saluting Fayne will be Terry Fator, Frankie Scinta, Lance Burton, Louie Anderson, Robin Leach, Sandy Hackett & the Rat Pack Show, the ladies from “Menopause,” Elvis Presley tribute artist Paul Casey, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute artists “Oh What A Night” and Human Nature. Also, Domenick Allen, Leigh Zimmerman, Cayleigh Capaldi, Rick Faugno, Lena Prima, 5th Avenue, Voci Vegas, the Las Vegas Tenors, Tony Sacca, Jerry Lopez, Jeff Neiman, Vincent Falcone and a chorus of Fayne’s friends. Tickets are $45, $35 and $25 inclusive and are available at the Suncoast box office and other Boyd Gaming properties.

Money raised at the event helps children and families in Southern Nevada affected by cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. Dennis DeYoung, former singer and songwriter of Chicago-based rock group Styx, will perform at The Orleans Showroom March 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced from $19.95, plus tax.

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul was spotted with fellow actor Ashton Holmes and a group of friends having dinner at TAO Asian Bistro.  Afterwards the group made their way to the Foo Fighters concert.  They returned after the concert, commanding a VIP table at LAVO and taking in the scene at LAVO’s True Religion Brand Jeans party with special guest DJ Samantha Ronson.

Rocker Tommy Lee took over house night at Blush Boutique Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas to host the King Baby Studio grand opening after-party. Friday, February 19, actor William Fichtner (TV’s Invasion) was seen having lunch at Society Café Encore before heading to the 7 p.m. premiere of Viva ELVIS at Aria.

At LAVO inside The Palazzo, gossip blogger Perez Hilton hosted a celebrity Tweet Up. The “Queen of All Media” enjoyed dinner at the Italian eatery with Holly Madison and Laura Croft of E!’s new show Holly’s World before heading upstairs to host in the nightclub.

Also spotted dining at LAVO was Lauren “Lo” Bosworth, of MTV’s The Hills, along with her sister.  They joined Perez, Holly and Laura upstairs in the nightclub after dinner.

Also spotted at LAVO, Jared Padalecki of CW’s Supernatural celebrating his bachelor party.  He will marry costar Genevieve Cortese next week in Idaho.

At TAO, Slash played host.  After enjoying dinner at TAO Asian Bistro with wife Perla and friends, the rocker adjourned to the moat sky box overlooking the entire club.  Poker pro Phil Hellmuth joined Slash at his table in the nightclub.

Paris Hilton celebrated her 29th birthday At TAO. She was joined by boyfriend Doug Reinhardt, parents Rick and Kathy and a group of friend. The group dined under the watchful eye of TAO’s famed Buddha on a feast of Asian specialties.   All gathered around when a tower of cupcakes (a gift from mom Kathy) was brought out to the table and the restaurant joined in singing “Happy Birthday”.   Perez Hilton also stopped by the table to wish his namesake a happy birthday.

Former NBA pro Charles Barkley, who turned 47 on Saturday continued the party he started at TAO on Friday by taking over a VIP table in the nightclub, and former NFL player Jamie Sharper and his brother Darren Sharper of the New Orleans Saints were spotted at another VIP table on the dance floor.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., also had an early celebration for his birthday.  The boxer, who turns 33 on February 24th was feted with a dinner by family and friends on the mezzanine level of the restaurant.

Brian Baumgartner from the TV series, The Office,  dined at TAO with friends, as did Law and Order’s Chris Noth, aka Mr. Big from Sex and the City.  Noth was later spotted in a sky box overlooking the nightclub, while Baumgartner joined the owner’s table on the dance floor.

Comedian Jay Mohr and wife, actress Nikki Cox visited TAO Nightclub.

Wynonna Judd was in the audience at Criss Angel's "Believe" at the Luxor.
