Award-winning, worldwide internet phenomenon Xavier Mortimer celebrated the World Premiere of his new show, “The Dream Maker” at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod inside the refreshed STRAT Theater on August 11, 2021, to unanimous acclaim.

The most-followed magician on the Las Vegas Strip, with more than five billion views online, 10 million followers and numerous appearances on TV shows such as America's Got Talent, Masters of Illusion and Penn and Teller Fool Us, Mortimer is the first ever Cirque Du Soleil featured performer to have his own headlining show on the Strip, taking the Las Vegas magic scene by storm.
Mortimer’s celebration began with a VIP reception inside the 108 Observation Deck at The STRAT, showcasing spectacular views as well as cocktails, small bites and guests including “The Dream Maker” producer/director Alex Goude, female impersonator Frank Marino, SPI Entertainment’s Alex Schecter, Allie Sparks and fellow magician, David Goldrake, among others.

During the pandemic, Mortimer took to social media with his illusions while his live show was temporarily shut down so that he could continue to bring his magic to fans around the world. Some of these videos broke records, one of them being the most viewed video worldwide on Facebook in June 2020 with more than 354 million views. In all, Mortimer received more than five billion views on social media as of May 2021, and more than 10 million followers in one year – a record for any magician in the world. With this new visibility, Mortimer caught the eye of numerous celebrities, including multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter and recording artist Jason Derulo, who reached out to collaborate on mind-blowing videos that took TikTok and Instagram by storm, garnering nearly 75 million views.

THE NEON MUSEUM, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying, and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts and cultural enrichment, has achieved ACCREDITATION BY THE AMERICAN ALLIANCE OF MUSEUMS (AAM), the highest national recognition bestowed to museums in the United States.
Accreditation signifies excellence within the museum community and recognizes an institution’s commitment to good stewardship of resources as well as its pursuit of continual institutional growth and public accountability to its guests, community, governments, funders, and outside agencies.
Of the estimated 33,000 museums in the United States, fewer than 1,100 are currently accredited --about 3 percent of all museums. The Neon Museum is one of only six museums now accredited in Nevada.
The Neon Museum executive director Aaron Berger noted that accreditation also enables The Neon Museum to bring more exhibitions and significant works of art from other accredited institutions around the world to the museum, which typically welcomes more than 225,000 local, national and international visitors a year. “Accreditation also will bolster the Museum’s fundraising efforts as it plans for an expansion to the Reed Whipple Cultural Center,” he said.

As demand for assistance continues to rise, HELP OF SOUTHERN NEVADA is launching its “EVERY $1 COUNTS” campaign, Aug. 8 – Sept. 12. The second installment, “DOLLARS FOR DINING,” places a special focus on SHANNON WEST HOMELESS YOUTH CENTER and the at-risk youth that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The month-long campaign emphasizes that any donation, no matter the size, allows HELP of Southern Nevada to further its mission and alleviate hunger by providing three nutritious meals and two snacks to over 100 youth daily at the homeless youth center.Friends, family and co-workers alike are encouraged to make a donation of any stature through the dedicated online portal HERE. MICHAEL JACKSON ONE by Cirque du Soleil, reopened its exclusive residency at MANDALAY BAY RESORT & CASINO on Aug. 19, 2021, after a 16-month intermission due to the global crisis. LADY GAGA announced she will return to PARK MGM in Las Vegas October 2021. Lady Gaga will take the Park Theater stage for nine performances of her critically acclaimed LADY GAGA JAZZ & PIANO show. Live music, both local acts and other headliners, will take the stage in the evenings on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. “Sand Dollar Downtown will be focused on recreating the classic age of electric blues and Rock ‘n Roll in the Downtown corridor,” said co-owner Nathan Grates.

The second oldest souvenir shop in Las Vegas, MR. BOXER INC., closed its retail location located in the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, Gate C-24, on August 13th. Est. in 1992, Mr. Boxer has proudly sent tourists and locals home with their favorite souvenirs, novelty boxers, men's and women's loungewear and apparel for over 25 years. Owned and operated by UNLV alumnus James Rathner, Mr. Boxer is a local business through and through. What started as a kiosk in the esplanade area of McCarran grew into a 900 sq. ft. inline location at Gate C-24. Mr. Boxer will forever be thankful to all of its wonderful employees and loyal customers over the years.

Celebs and pro athletes including DIDDY, THE NFL’S MARSHAWN LYNCH, RAE SREMMURD, AND A MASSIVE GROUP OF THE NBA’S BEST INCLUDING JAMES HARDEN, GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO, JAREN JACKSON JR. and more came out to DRAI’S BEACHCLUB • NIGHTCLUB to celebrate superstar Rick Ross’ new Las Vegas residency. Ross performed hit after hit, including songs like “Aston Martin Music,” “Hustlin’” and “9 Piece” with the celeb-packed audience joining him on stage and off during Ross’ second sold-out Drai’s LIVE performance.

LIL JON AND DJ RUCKUS were on hand as Drai’s resident DJ and producer, DJ FRANZEN closed out the weekend with his epic SunDrais experience. BOYZ II MEN’S MEMBER SHAWN STOCKMAN made a special appearance at The After Party’s concert at The Summit Showroom inside The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. Stockman joined the iconic super group, made up of Boyz II Men bandmate WANYA MORRIS, BACKSTREET BOYS’ AJ MCLEAN AND NICK CARTER AND *NSYNC’S JOEY FATONE, to perform a medley of iconic boyband hits.
