Las Vegas Landmarks Turn Red for World AIDS Day
Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) and the Las Vegas community showed its support in the fight against HIV and AIDS on Saturday, December 2, with a series of commemorations all around town honoring those living with or affected by the disease.

The day began with the world-famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign turning red while Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick presented AFAN Executive Director Antioco Carrillo with a proclamation recognizing the significance of the day in Las Vegas and the importance of AFAN's work in the community.
Starting at 8 p.m., many casinos and landmarks across the Valley turned their marquees including Caesars Palace, Harrah's Las Vegas, The LINQ Hotel & Casino, The LINQ Promenade & High Roller Observation Wheel, Flamingo Las Vegas, The Cromwell, Bally's Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Downtown Summerlin, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, The Venetian and The Palazzo, Keep Memory Alive Event Center, Fremont Street Experience, Stratosphere Casino Hotel, & Tower, Plaza Hotel & Casino, Miracle Mile Shops, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Las Vegas City Hall, MEET Las Vegas, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and all of the Station Casino properties.

Events were scheduled throughout the rest of the week to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS and to benefit AFAN's client services. On Saturday, Dec. 3, the fifth annual #iPARTYinRED Zumbathon took place at the Gramercy from 5:30-7 p.m. The $10 minimum donation directly supports AFAN.
AFAN is also hosting their annual holiday toy drive now through Dec. 9 to make this season special for children living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Please visit facebook.com/afanlv for more information on how to adopt a child or family from the "digital angel tree."

Terry Fator Presents Holiday Themed Show, “A Very Terry Christmas”
Mirage headliner, Terry Fator: The Voice of Entertainment debuted his holiday themed show on Monday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Dec. 22. Titled, A Very Terry Christmas, this show is a holiday tradition in the style of those great family television specials of the past, while mixing in the perfect amount of Las Vegas.

Pretending be at home in his living room with the stage decorated with a Christmas tree, a fireplace (by way of video screen), and a doorbell signaling the arrival of “visitors”, the multi talented Fator and cast celebrate the holidays with comedy, singing, celebrity impersonations and ventriloquism, featuring classic tunes such as “Winter Wonderland,” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. There is even talk about “Juana” a new holiday that is sure to make audiences laugh out loud.
A Very Terry Christmas features pre-show opener Ben Harris, a brilliant cast fronted by the amazingly talented Fator along with his lovable puppet characters including Winston, the Impersonating Turtle, Vikki “The Cougar,” country legend Walter T. Airdale, stoner Duggie Scott Walker, the “flamboyant” Berry Fabulous, soul singer Julius, teen vocal sensation Emma Taylor, the world’s greatest Elvis impersonator Maynard Tompkins and Latin heartthrob Fernando V. Francisco. New additions to A Very Terry Christmas is President elect Donald Trump and a duet between David Bowie and Bing Crosby, which features Fator performing with two puppets simultaneously. Fator's new bride Angie also joins her hubby on stage, filling in as his assistant, carrying puppets to and from Fator when not seated on a nearby chair watching him perform.

Tony Sacca Explores the history of Las Vegas in “Vegas The Story” at Ballys Window Showroom
Entertainer, singer, TV host and producer Tony Sacca has brought his new and original musical production,“Tony Sacca’s Vegas The Story,” to the Windows Showroom at Ballys Hotel & Casino.

The show, written and created by Sacca with additional material from the late comedian David Brenner, is funny and nostalgic with a multimedia video presentation that explores the history of Las Vegas over the past 100 years. Narration is by Nevada Hall of Fame Broadcaster, Ron Garrett, with musical direction from Grammy Award winner Gary Anderson and also includes four of Sacca’s original musical compositions.
Vegas The Story takes audiences on a journey through the history of Las Vegas from 1904 to the beginning of legalized gambling in the 1930s, the passage of a quickie divorce, and the building of Hoover Dam, up until the present along with a glimpse into the future of Las Vegas in the year 2050. The show pays tribute to several resident headliners who made Sin City “The Entertainment Capital of the World” including Sacca performing the songs of legendary headliners Jimmy Durante, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Donny Osmond, Sonny Bono, Louis Prima, Wayne Newton, and Bobby Darin.

Hakkasan Group hosted its final HAKKASAN GIVES BACK EVENT WITH THE GOODIE TWO SHOES FOUNDATION on Friday morning, December 9. Kicking off its efforts in late August, the nightlife and hospitality company partnered with the reputable organization as a part of its third annual Hakkasan Gives Back initiative.
During the final event, a number of Hakkasan Group Executives and employees came together for a celebratory check presentation ceremony and presented Goodie Two Shoes founders, Tony and Nikki Berti, with a check for $55,000, resulting in the outfitting of approximately 2,200 children.

In a five month span, Hakkasan Group hosted four volunteer opportunities during Goodie Two Shoes’ shoe distribution events, which was open to all Hakkasan Group employees. With those opportunities the group accrued over 460 volunteer hours and helped outfit approximately 1,662 children with a brand new pair of shoes and socks. In addition to employee efforts, Hakkasan Group artists joined in this year with monetary donations and volunteer hours, including Steve Aoki’s Aoki Foundation. Donation efforts will continue throughout the end of the year, allowing for staff and guests to donate at select Hakkasan Group restaurants in Las Vegas.
Hakkasan Group developed the Hakkasan Gives Back initiative in 2013, and continues to be involved with a variety of charitable organizations each year. The company strives to provide opportunities to its employees, artists and guests alike, encouraging those to participate and give back to its community throughout each year.

Local fashion designer ERMALINDA MANOS celebrated the official launch of her book "LOST IN LAS VEGAS" Wednesday night, December 7, with a fashion event at The Metropolitan Gallery Art Museum in Downtown Las Vegas. Manos gave thanks and appreciation to her team, guests, and family for the endless support they have shown her throughout her life, the creation of the book, and her lifelong battle with immigration. With her mom and dad by her side, she teared up as she dedicated the evening and book to other young immigrants going through the same process. Francy Johnson, who played an integral role in Manos' immigration case, traveled 20 hours from Kuwait to celebrate the evening with her.

After walking through the eclectic art in the gallery and snapping photos in the photo booth, guests were treated to a fashion show with designs from Manos' line featured in the book, modeled by TNG Models and hair and makeup by Kelly Cardenas Salon. Local personality Sancho Van Ryan emceed the event as guests sipped on cocktails from Hug L'Originale and Tequila Chamucos. DJ Douglas Gibbs provided the soundtrack to the evening.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman honored Manos with an official proclamation declaring Dec. 7 as "Ermelinda Manos Day," recognizing her contributions to the Las Vegas community through fashion and the arts. Wearing a glittering black and gold backless design of her own, Manos then personally signed copies of her book and posed for photos with guests.

On the morning of Friday, Dec. 2, TWIN LAKES ELEMENTARY STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL KRISTIN MILLER, gathered as supplies were donated by UNITED HEALTHCARE/HEALTH PLAN OF NEVADA to support the start of club programs. The donated items totaled $1,721.33 and included supplies such as movement scarves for the Music and Dance Club, paint kits and brushes for the Cool Cats Art Club and fitness pedometers for the Running Club. Following the donation presentation, UnitedHealthcare/Health Plan of Nevada’s Community Outreach Manager, Kim Gahagan was thanked with a card created and signed by Twin Lakes Elementary students and staff.

The Wright Family Bronco Riders, sponsored by the D Las Vegas, are dominating the WRANGLER NATIONAL FINALS RODEO competition and the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) has created an action-packed viewing hub to capture it all. Guests have been joining the legendary family of cowboys and learning rodeo tricks at the D during their meet and greet sessions, which will continue throughout the week at the Vue Bar in the D Las Vegas, DLVEC’s sister property. Darin Feinstein, the owner of Fat Bar on the Las Vegas Strip and three local Fatburger franchise locations, along with his wife Patricia Feinstein, have announced the 4th ANNUAL HOLIDAY GIVE BACK TO THE SHADE TREE donation drive and private star-studded event for its residents. With a goal of filling more than tummies for the holiday season, the annual month-long donation drive and private lunch for residents has become a highly successful fundraising activity for the residents of The Shade Tree. Fatburger supplies a commercial grill and a dozen staff members who all look forward to take part and grill up the world-famous Fatburgers for residents. Additionally, special guests come to support the cause such as Rio headliner and comedian Eddie Griffin and entertainer Early Clover and friends, who have supported the Holiday Give since its launch in 2013, Phillip Limon and Dana Anderson of the ISI group who come every year to paint inspiring murals at The Shade Tree, and Steve Siegel and Judi Siegel of Siegel Suites, who last year brought Santa Claus and provided toys for the children.

The College of Southern Nevada Department of Fine Arts will host the “2016-2017 CSN ART & ART HISTORY FACULTY EXHIBITION” featuring work of 38 faculty/artists from its Art & Art History Program, beginning Friday, December 2, that will run though Saturday, January 28, 2017. Works featured in this exhibition will highlight the vast range of offerings within the CSN Art & Art History Program including: ceramics, digital media, drawing, metal work, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The CSN Fine Arts & Artspace Galleries are FREE and open to the public. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. In the spirit of the holiday season, award-winning gentlemen’s club CRAZY HORSE III will collect toy donations to support KLUC-FM’s 18th ANNUAL TOY DRIVE from Thursday, Dec. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 10. Plus, Crazy Horse III will treat patrons to one free drink for a new and unwrapped toy that is priced at $15 or more. For the ten days of the toy drive, Chet Buchanan of KLUC-FM’s Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo will collect donations on behalf of HELP of Southern Nevada to benefit local families and hundreds of non-profit agencies. XEB, featuring ex original members of the hit band Third Eye Blind, will make its Las Vegas debut at Palms Casino Resort. The band, which includes Kevin Cadogan, Tony Fredianelli and Arion Salazar, will perform hits from Third Eye Blind’s self-titled debut album during the Official Holiday Havoc After-Party at The Lounge inside Palms Casino Resort on Thursday, December 8, 2016 and Friday, December 9, 2016. More than 1,000 people are expected to bring the holiday spirit to Summerlin on December 10th when they "jingle all the way" to Tivoli Village, 440 S. Rampart Boulevard, for the Arthritis Foundation's annual fundraiser, JINGLE BELL RUN/WALK event, to support the fight to cure arthritis, the nation's leading cause of disability. The annual holiday-themed event will start at 8:00 a.m. and will have host walkers and runners alike donning their most festive apparel -- everything from bells on bobtails to full holiday regalia. Locally, in 2015 the Jingle Bell Run/Walk raised more than $110,000 with approximately 1000 participants and volunteers. The Orleans Arena will host ‘CIRQUE MUSICA HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR’ Live on Dec. 14 at 7:30 pm. Cirque Musica Holiday Spectacular” is a family-friendly show featuring acrobats, aerialists and hilarious hijinks, all set to the tune of classic holiday songs performed live by the Las Vegas Philharmonic orchestra. Award-winning gentlemen’s club Crazy Horse III, located at 3525 W. Russell Rd. will be throwing an over-the-top “NAUGHTY NOT NICE” HOLIDAY BASH to celebrate local industry professionals on Thursday, Dec. 15. The Hawaiian-based group SOCIETY OF SEVEN will heat up the Suncoast Showroom with its signature aloha vibe and its versatile variety show Dec. 17-18. Showtime is at 8:30 p.m. each night. Early 2017, Mondays Dark will move to its new home, The Space, a new community-driven, charity-based arts complex opening Jan. 5, 2017 that will be a haven for all arts and artists in Las Vegas. Located at 3460 Cavaretta Court, the new arts complex will feature a 3,000 sq. ft. raw performance space a black box theater, two rehearsal studios, podcast/recording studio, and a vintage piano bar and lounge.

Mixed martial artist Tito Ortiz spent the day at Marquee Dayclub Dome in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas celebrating the birthday of his girlfriend Amber Miller.
