Opportunity Village Celebrated Elvis Presley’s Birthday with a Special Performance by the OV Elvi and the Official Elvis of Las Vegas, Jesse Garon

Opportunity Village celebrated Elvis Presley’s 81st birthday with a special performance by the OV Elvi group alongside Jesse Garon, the Official Elvis of Las Vegas, at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, on Friday, January 8. The OV Elvi group is part of Opportunity Village’s Fine and Performing Arts Program and is the ‘World’s Only All Elvis Dance Troupe.’

Crowds gathered for the free performance as the OV Elvi impersonated Elvis, performed The King’s signature dance moves and sang backup vocals to some of his biggest hits in front of a larger than life Elvis statue. After the performance, the OV Elvi journeyed through ELVIS: The Exhibition at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

SEXXY, the award-winning sensual topless revue is celebrating its first anniversary at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Created, choreographed and directed by Jennifer Romas, SEXXY takes audiences on a journey through their favorite fantasies, alongside Las Vegas’ SEXXY-est dancers and new state-of-the-art lighting and sound. SEXXY is performed Tuesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. inside the Westgate Cabaret. Tickets are $39.95 for general admission and $59.95 for VIP, plus taxes and fees. Tickets can be purchased at the Westgate Box Office.. Guests must be 18 years or older.

HUNTER HOPEWELL, a forty-time award winning filmmaker and Junior studying  Film at the UNLV Honors College, has been awarded First Place in the 14-18 year old category for his anti-bullying  film “Numbskull”,  at the Peace in the Streets Global Film Festival produced annually by the Peacemaker Corps Association an NGO at the United Nations for the past 18 years.

TOPGOLF INTERNATIONAL announced that its flagship Las Vegas location will open this May at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The 105,000-square-foot golf entertainment venue plans to hire for more than 850 positions. Applications have been posted online at topgolf.com/vegascareers, and interviews will begin immediately.Available positions include: servers, bartenders, golf instructors, bussers, plus kitchen, maintenance, guest services staff and many more. Interested candidates should complete an application online and then visit the Topgolf  office in person at 4305 Dean Martin Ave., Suite 185, Las Vegas, Nevada 89103. In-person interviews will be held Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m.

The January edition of MONDAYS DARK WITH MARK SHUNOCK will take place January 25 inside Vinyl at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.  The evening's theme will be Anchorman: The Soundtrack with proceeds from the event benefitting the Injured Police Officers Fund. Tickets are $20 in advance at http://www.mondaysdark.com or $30 at the door.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member DION will no longer be performing at The Orleans Showroom February 5 and 6. Dion will now be performing in the Orleans Showroom Mar. 25 and 26. The show begins at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets are available starting from $50, plus taxes and fees and can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office.

Nashville Unplugged, the up-close-and-personal showcase of country music’s finest writers, presents the new NASHVILLE UNPLUGGED HALL OF FAME SERIES at Sunset Station. Held the second Thursday of each month at Club Madrid inside Sunset Station, the Nashville Unplugged Hall Of Fame Series will feature performances and stories from some of the most accomplished and prolific songwriters in the music industry.

Hosted by Aaron Benward, who has written numerous ACM and CMA-nominated songs, including the hit “Who I Am,” and Travis Howard, whose credits include Miranda Lambert’s “Famous In a Small Town,” “Bring Me Down” and “Heart Like Mine,” the Nashville Unplugged Hall Of Fame Series will premiere Thursday, January 14 at 8 p.m. with Grammy Award-nominated songwriter Tony Arata.

The Nashville Unplugged Hall Of Fame Series will be held the second Thursday of each month at Club Madrid inside Sunset Station. All performances begin at 8 p.m. and cover is $10 at the door. Boarding Pass card members receive a $5 entry discount. Guests must be 21 years or older.

The Old School Show will have guests up on their feet as they grove to a medley of soul, R&B, Motown and funk hits from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. The PLAZA HOTEL & CASINO in downtown Las Vegs welcomes two new displays inside the LAS VEGAS CLUB GALLERY.  On Friday, Jan. 15, famed local artist JERRY MISKO will open an exhibit of his edition prints and one-of-a-kind paintings of nostalgic Las Vegas neon signs. A native Las Vegan, Misko has been a practicing artist in Las Vegas for the past 12 years, working on projects with the city of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the Neon Museum, the Contemporary Arts Collective, First Friday, and many other local arts organizations, private companies, collectors and galleries. His acclaimed, retro-meets-modern interpretations of classic Las Vegas icons will be available for sale.

THE 31st ANNUAL STELLAR GOSPEL MUSIC AWARDS returns to the Orleans Arena on Feb. 20. The award show recognizes the accomplishments of gospel music icons and those instrumental in advocating for gospel music. Tickets start at $50 plus taxes and convenience fees.

“THE BIRD DOGS: THE EVERLY BROTHERS EXPERIENCE”,  a celebration of Don and Phil Everly’s music, starring the Zmed brothers, Dylan and Zachary comes to the Suncoast Showroom January 23 and 24, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night. On Thursday, Feb. 4, the MUSEUM OF GAMING HISTORY, a not-for-profit, educational project of The Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club, Inc., will open its “UNION PLAZA THEN AND NOW” exhibit. The exhibit will be FREE to the public and will contain artifacts from when the hotel/casino first opened through the last five decades. The exhibit will have about 150-200 items including chips, tokens, dice, ashtrays, post cards and numerous other branded artifacts, as well as a light box display of a rare slot glass collection. The exhibition will also include a wall of photographs spanning the Plaza’s history from its groundbreaking to current day prominence and a 30-minute video about the Plaza’s place in the historic development of downtown Las Vegas.

CRAZY HORSE IIIthe award-winning gentlemen’s club, located on Russell Road, just a few blocks west of the Las Vegas Strip, will host a viewing party for the highly anticipated UFC 196 title fight: Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum vs. Cain Velasquez on Saturday, Feb. 6, starting at 5 p.m.UFC aficionados will view the action on the club’s massive 70-inch and 100-inch flat-screen televisions. Guests of this viewing party may watch alongside the venue’s entertainers and enjoy, beer bucket specials, free pizza and more. Locals can also enjoy half-off bottles.Complimentary limo transportation to the viewing party is available through Crazy Horse III’s limo service, pending availability.

M RESORT SPA AND CASINO will commemorate the YEAR OF THE MONKEY with a CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION to include dragon and lion dances, festive decorations and special menu items.

On Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at 5 p.m., the Forbes Four-Star resort will host a traditional good luck Chinese dragon and lion dance. Performed by the Lohan School of Shaolin, a team of 30 dancers will perform the traditional ceremony to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune as they animate a 63-foot dragon with graceful, undulating movements. The assembly, which will also include adult and baby lion dancers, happy Buddhas, musicians and festive flags, will parade throughout the casino, beginning and ending in the hotel lobby with a traditional performance.

M Resort will continue to usher in the Lunar New Year with festive décor throughout the resort including customary welcome banners, orange trees with red envelopes and Chinese lanterns on display. Studio B Buffet will serve a variety of Asian favorites beginning Monday, Feb. 8 through Tuesday, Feb. 23.
 
Superstar vocal group RASCAL FLATTS has announced that season nine finalist of NBC’s “The Voice” BARRETT BABER will join the trio on their RASCAL FLATTS RHYTHM & ROOTS residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. The nine-show run takes place at the award-winning music venue from Wednesday, February 17 to Saturday, March 5. Tickets are on sale now and start at $39.95.

2016 JAY CUTLER DESERT CLASSIC will be held inside The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort on Saturday, March 26, 2016. The NPC national qualifier competition, featuring contestants from around the country, consists of Men and Women’s Body Building, Men and Women’s Physique, Women’s Figure and Bikini, and Women’s Fitness. Multiple vendors specializing in supplements and apparel will also be on hand during the event. Tickets are now on sale. The Pearl Box Office is open daily from noon until 7 p.m. Day of the event, the Box Office will open at 7:30 a.m.

Brandon Phillips of the Cincinnati Reds was spotted at TAO Nightclub in The Venetian with a group of friends where he greeted fans before heading to his VIP table. Also at TAO was San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVarro Bowman at a separate table with friends taking in the sounds by DJ Five.

Sarah Thomas, the NFL’s first full-time female referee, and Grahame Patrick, an Elvis tribute artist for the local “Legends in Concert” show, each stopped by Michael and Jenna Morton’s popular restaurant  La Comida, located in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas.
