Sam's Town Hosts 3rd Annual "Out of the Gutters" Celebrity Bowling Tournament to Benefit the Nevada SPCA

Friends, family members and animal lovers from across the valley knocked down some pins with Vegas celebrities to raise funds for the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) during  The NSPCA'S 3rd Annual “Out of the Gutters” Celebrity Bowling Tournament for Animal Rescue on Sunday, Aug. 2 at Sam’s Town Bowling Center (5111 Boulder Highway, Las Vegas).

Three hundred bowlers bowlers -- the most yet --  filled the entire bowling center. Also, more than 200 people came to watch and root on their favorites, with total attendance surpassing 500. In addition to bowling, guests enjoyed a family-friendly, fun afternoon with a variety of activities for animal lovers of all ages – meeting some of the sanctuary’s adoptable pets, mixing and mingling with the celebrity bowlers and vying for some of the great raffle prizes throughout the afternoon.

New features of this year's event were very successful, including:  pledging sponsorships for celebrities by "virtual bowling", a "Holiday Spirits" game-of-chance to win bottles of expensive wine, half of the tournament was conducted in the dark with "lights out bowling" and disco lights and rock videos, and pick-a-prize kids' area with games of chance (like a carnival).

The event was hosted by Dao Vu from Channel 13’s The Morning Blend and Valley View Live.

Celebrities competed for the coveted “Fan Champion Trophy” with animal lovers supporting their favorite celebrity bowler by “sponsoring” their bowling game during the tournament.

Notables included comedian Louie Anderson; reality star Dirk Vermin; cast members from Rock of Ages, Jersey Boys, Absinthe, Baz, Raiding the Rock Vault, Thunder from Down Under and Fantasy; reality star Tyler Dale; radio personalities Dayna Roselli, Alan Stock, Todd Michaels and Heather Collins; singer Skye Dee Miles; entertainer Jeff Civillico; and magician Lance Burton…complete with his team.

The event was made possible thanks to the exceptional generosity of Sam's Town and the dedication of dozens of volunteers, sponsors, and donors.

Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to the belief that every life is precious. Funded entirely by private donations, the Society operates a no-kill shelter in Las Vegas for animals who have been abused, neglected or abandoned, or otherwise face homelessness and danger. It works to provide medical care, rehabilitation and adoption services for thousands of animals each year and then place them in loving, forever homes.
