Joe Bonamassa Unveils Memorabilia Case inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

American blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa unveiled his memorabilia case inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas on Monday, Jan. 20.

The display, located next to the Dragon Salon in the HRH Tower, includes a Versace suit, black leather shoes, sunglasses and a custom, limited-edition model of a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top guitar that were featured during the music legend’s sold-out show inside the Royal Albert Hall in London. During the legendary performance, Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Eric Clapton hopped on stage for a special duet. The show was filmed for the “Joe Bonamassa Live from the Royal Albert Hall” DVD, which went platinum by selling more than 100,000 copies.

To help commemorate Bonamassa’s career milestone, the entertainment icon was joined by members of his band including drummer Anton Fig, also known as the drummer on CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman,” and bassist Carmine Rojas. In addition, friend and founder of RockandRollGallery.com Chris Vranian and Bonamassa’s producer Kevin Shirley were present in support of the artist. A group of fans cheered as the curtain dropped to reveal the memorabilia display.

During his solo career, Bonamassa released 10 albums, four live CDs and three live DVDs, as well as two albums with rock band Black Country Communion.

The grand opening event included a ribbon cutting by Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson, Chairman & CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp; an artist reception featuring wine, champagne and hors d'oeuvres, followed by an unveiling of Graham Knuttel’s latest masterpiece, titled “Something's Brewing”, that captures “chefs doing what they do best”,  says the artist.

Among the VIP guests in attendance were  Chefs Rick Moonen and Alex Stratta; Miss Asian Las Vegas;  Prince Lorenzo de Medici of TLC’s Secret Princes; actor Richard Burgi; celebrity magician Murray SawChuck with his wife, “Fantasy” dancer/Playboy Cyber Girl Chloe Crawford and his stage sidekick Doug “Lefty” Leferovich;  magic and music entertainers Jarrett and Raja; rockers John Payne from Raiding the Rock Vault, and Paul Shortino of Quiet Riot.

“I am so humbled by the tremendous turnout the gallery saw,” said Knuttel. “I have come to see Las Vegas as a second home and some of the city’s best have invited me in. It’s more than I could have hoped for.”

Knuttel’s work is instantly recognizable for its boldly colored canvases featuring characters with suspicious facial expressions and/or attitude and a playful dissonance. Many of Knuttel’s paintings and sculptures have come in themes with many depicting edgy chefs, nightlife settings, mobsters about to draw down on each other, anthropomorphic wildlife with flair, as well as a broad range of culinary subjects.

“Las Vegas’ vibrancy echoes the vibrant colors and characters I portray in my work. I have a great appreciation for how the city and my art play off of one another, and I am thrilled my showcase to the United States is located right here in Las Vegas, where extravagance and mischievousness attract tourists from all around the world. My art shares those same qualities and it’s exciting that I have this global platform to share my perspective,”said Knuttel.

Graham Knuttel’s paintings and sculptures have been acquired by an array of celebrities, including Frank Sinatra, Sylvester Stallone, Whoopi Goldberg, Colin Firth, Michael Stipe, and Viscount Linley, the nephew of Queen Elizabeth. Director John Herzfeld commissioned Knuttel to paint Robert De Niro. Several prestigious institutions such as Goldman Sachs and the William Morris Agency have also counted Knuttel canvases among their displayed art.

The gallery is curated by Knuttel Worldwide Ventures, a partnership between the artist and Las Vegas-based Redhills Ventures.

Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Celebrate Chinese New Year

In celebration of the Year of the Horse during Chinese New Year, Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens has unveiled an eye popping, festive display free for guests to enjoy through March 1, that boasts rich cultural meaning and honors the stallion symbolizing happiness and luck.

The design of the Conservatory’s tranquil temple is guided by the ancient practice of Feng Shui – the art of using surroundings to attract harmony, balance and positive life energy. Each garden within the Chinese New Year display incorporates water, ensuring a positive flow of energy; and the three friends of winter – pine, bamboo and plum, symbolizing perseverance, integrity and modesty, respectively.

Clusters of red silk lanterns and red firecrackers, believed to ward off evil as they represent happiness and prosperity, hang dramatically from the Conservatory’s ceiling.

The display’s bold centerpiece features seven life-size horses on a lush three-tier mountain while a majestic gold stallion rears at the mountaintop; the total number of eight represents good fortune. Cascading waterfalls drift down the mountain into a tranquil pond filled with more than 150 Koi fish while two giant red lanterns illuminate the sky overhead.

At the Conservatory’s entrance, symbolizing good fortune and nobility is an 18-foot-tall custom-made Chinese money tree, with 384 oversized gold-leafed coins on its branches and mounds of I-Ching coins, a traditional Chinese symbol for money, surrounding its bases.  At the garden’s corners, four ding pots, ancestral vessels that protect against bad fortune, burn incense from their peaks for good luck.

A zig-zag bridge extends from both sides of the Chinese-style pavilion in the North Garden, providing a difficult route for negative energy and bad spirits. “Lucky” children, each embellished with 1,800 multicolored flowers including carnations, spider mums and Fuji mums, bring life to the display as they play near the peaceful pavilion. In the South Garden, three floral children frolic throughout the luminous Bromeliads.

This garden provides a serene stage for the Las Vegas-based Beijing Trio to perform traditional folk and pop music with authentic Chinese instruments from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., nightly. The musicians arrive to the stage through an ancient moon gate, serving as an inviting entrance into the Lunar New Year celebrations.

Legend has it that Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year.  Twelve came. The seventh animal in the Asian zodiac is the headstrong horse. Those born in the Year of the Horse tend to be energetic, good with money and very fond of travel.

On view through March 1, the Chinese New Year exhibit within Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is complimentary to the public and open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
