Jessica Roadhouse Named Golden Gate Hotel & Casino’s 2012 Miss Santa’s Helper

Las Vegas local Jessica Roadhouse received an early Christmas gift, on Saturday, December 22, when she won Golden Gate’s 2012 Miss Santa’s Helper contest and a cash prize of $5,000.

Dressed in their sexiest Santa’s helper attire, female contestants from all around Sin City acquired holiday tokens from judges using their charm, wit and beauty. Throughout the night, each judge awarded tokens to the Santa’s Helper they thought was most deserving of the title and grand prize.

At the conclusion of the evening, Jessica Roadhouse, a teacher at Hyde Park Middle School, was named Golden Gate’s 2012 Miss Santa’s Helper. Pursuing her Masters in Multicultural Education, Roadhouse was extremely excited to win $5,000 to help pay for school.

“I was shy at first but when I was honest with everyone about my goals for school, I had a whole team pulling for me by the end of the night. I still can’t believe it!” said Roadhouse.

The Golden Gate is Las Vegas’ most historic hotel and casino, located at One Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

 

INSERT COIN(S) Serves Up A Signature Cocktail Competition To Complete the New 2013 Menu

A friendly competition of taste, creativity and presentation of simplistic cocktails took place in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas Thursday night, Dec. 27. Four Insert Coin(s) bartenders battled it out, with the goal of having their cocktail featured on the barcade’s revamped 2013 signature cocktail menu.

Hosted by The Modern Mixologist, Tony Abou - Ganim, the judges included noteworthy food and beverage gurus such as Susan Stapleton from Eater Vegas, Xania Woodman from Vegas SEVEN, Deanna Rilling from Vegas SEVEN, Sabrina Chapman from The Las Vegas Weekly, and Jolene Mannina from The Life is Beautiful Festival. Each bartender showcased their talents behind the bar by creating remarkable cocktails featuring spirit sponsors- Hennessy Black and Stoli Elite.

In the end, it was Justin Alferez’s “Need for Speed,” made with Hennessy Black, that took home the title and will be a featured cocktail in 2013.

The newly opened PHAT PACK has announced that their show at the Plaza Hotel & Casino will be dark after their New Year’s Day 5PM & 7PM performances for a short, yet undetermined time while the showroom undergoes some renovations with lighting & sound equipment. Phat Pack Cast Member, Bruce Ewing said “We hope to be back sometime around the 22nd of January, but will announce our solid re-opening date when we know the specifics.”

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas welcomes DJ Pauly D back to its upscale nightclub Vanity on Sunday, Dec. 30 to spin the night away in celebration of the upcoming new year. Vanity Nightclub’s resident DJ Shift will also take the stage to mix today’s favorite hits. All guests must be 21 years of age and older, with valid photo ID.  Vanity entry fee starts at $30 for ladies and $40 for men.

To help ring in the New Year, seven casinos along the Strip, from the Stratosphere to the MGM Grand, will put on a magnificent fireworks display from their rooftops this New Years Eve. For the eighth consecutive year, Fireworks by Grucci is the company putting on the show.  The Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas will also partake in a display with its canopy lighting up the mall at the stroke of midnight to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne."  An estimated 300,000 people are expected to show up for Las Vegas' annual fireworks show.

DJ NESTA B will be spinning the night away at  the Hard Rock Cafe on the Las Vegas Strip Monday, December 31.  Party-goers will have an amazing front and center view of the Las Vegas Strip and the world-famous firework displays, visible from the third floor balcony. All ticket purchases include a hosted Red Bull & Absolut bar as well as passed appetizers from 9pm to 10pm. At midnight, there will be a champagne toast to usher in the New Year.  Tickets are $39.00 in advance and $50.00 day of event. Comedian JOHN BIZARRE is the featured headliner at Sin City Comedy from December 31st- January 6th. Sin City Comedy performs nightly at 9 p.m. at the Sin City Theatre, located on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Tickets are priced at $48.50 and $37.50.


Cast members from EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL, the hit show at V Theater inside Planet Hollywood, are volunteering their time and their blood to kick off NATIONAL BLOOD DONOR MONTH. The actors will be entertaining donors and members of the public, as well as giving blood, in an effort to encourage others to donate blood on Friday, Jan. 4, from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at MaximuM Comics, 7950 W. Tropical Parkway, Suite 120 (just north of Ann Road).

FIRST FRIDAY LAS VEGAS ART & CULTURE FESTIVAL, showcasing 75+ artists, 15 live bands and DJ’s on four stages, 25+ food trucks and more, recently celebrated 10 years of art and community in downtown Las Vegas. This month’s event on Friday, Jan. 4 will heat up downtown with heating stations and hot beverages to keep First Friday patrons warm, alongside the Art Nouveau aesthetic on Casino Center and Colorado Ave. This month First Friday is asking artists and vendors to push their creativity and interpret Art Nouveau in their own point of view by decorating their booths in the style. The fierce competition for “Best Decorations” will be awarded to the most creative after the festival. Benefitting the American Red Cross, the donation Blood Bus will be collecting at the Bloody Mary Drive.

First Friday’s newest meet-up point and central hangout,The Hub, will have assorted interactive activities to enjoy all evening.  Patrons looking to warm up this month will have heating stations and hot crafted cocktails and beverages to enjoy during breaks from the artists , musicians and food throughout the festival.

The KidZone presented by The Chuck Jones Experience will feature art lessons by animators responsible for some of pop culture’s most beloved cartoon characters. World-class animators provided by The Chuck Jones Experience will be on-hand to provide pointers to little artists-to-be with their expert advice. Stephen Fishwick, an official artist for Disney Fine Art, will be making a one-of-a-kind five foot by five foot painting. His wild painting and performance style is not to be missed and James Mulligan, official artist for the Elvis Presley estate, Zorro, Disney and Warner Bros., will sit down with budding artists and offer his master abilities to help them improve.
The delicious food provided by Las Vegas’ best food trucks can now be found on Third Street between Colorado and Imperial.

A new stop has been added to each shuttle route at Rick’s Restoration/ Artistic Iron Works at Charleston and Commerce. Patrons can jump off at the stop and check out live entertainment, a car show and get the chance to meet the cast of “American Restoration” on History Channel.

Brody Dolyniuk, former Las Vegas resident and entertainer, in conjunction with The Maddux Foundation and Station Casinos, will host OUR TOWN FOR NEWTOWN - A CONCERT FOR SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL on Sunday, Jan. 6 at The Railhead inside Boulder Station from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Featuring a host of local bands, Las Vegas headliners and solo artists, all proceeds from the event will be channeled via The (Greg & Kathy) Maddux Foundation and directed into an existing account set up in Newtown, CT by the United Way. The concert will feature performances by Beatles tribute The Fab, Lon Bronson All-Star Band, Rick Duarte of Strung Out Sessions, Paul Shortino of Quiet Riot and Rough Cut, Bella Electric Strings, Zowie Bowie, Elisa Furr of iCandy, The Las Vegas Tenors, Lorena Peril of Fantasy, Michelle Johnson of The Platters, Brent Muscat of Faster Pussycat and the Sin City Sinners, Michael Cavanaugh from Broadway’s “Movin’ Out,” Yellow Brick Road and Zeppelin USA, among others. Admission is a minimum donation of $10 at the door. Further donations will be accepted inside the showroom or via the United Way’s website at https://newtown.uwwesternct.org/. Guests under 21 years must be accompanied by an adult. 

Award-winning hit maker, songwriter, producer and recording artist KENNY “BABYFACE” EDMONDS will perform in The Orleans Showroom January 19 and 20. Showtime each evening is 8 p.m. Tickets start from $49.95, plus tax and convenience fees.

CELINE DION, Caesars Entertainment and AEG Live are teaming up to create a special one-night only event, “Adding Tomorrows with Celine Dion,” to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. The benefit concert will raise funds to support critical research for cystic fibrosis, a fatal genetic disease that causes debilitating lung infections and premature death. Celine lost her niece Karine to Cystic Fibrosis in 1993 and has been involved in the fight against this disease as the Celebrity Patron for Cystic Fibrosis Canada since 1982.
 
Celine will perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace beginning at 8:30 p.m. Guests who have purchased special VIP packages that include the exclusive dinner are invited to attend an exclusive pre-concert cocktail reception during Celine’s soundcheck–with full orchestra –at The Colosseum.

Tickets for Celine range from $55 to $250. Additionally, a limited number of VIP concert packages are available from $4,000 to $25,000 and are tax-deductible. Law & Order: SVU star Ice-T and his wife, Peep Show headliner, Coco were spotted at LAVO with friends, taking in the sounds of DJ VICE at the club’s VICE Sundays.
At Marquee Dutch DJ Tiesto took over a table in the main room and also joined headlining DJ Gareth Emery on stage.

World-renowned DJ and electronic dance music producer Tiësto partied at Hyde Bellagio for the Christmas edition of the venue’s industry night, Lost Angels.


The celebrated DJ was also spotted reveling with professional poker star Antonio Esfandiari, the all-time leader in poker tournament winnings and former magician.
