Zowie Bowie Late Night Brings the Old Vibe Back To Vegas at Bally's Windows Room
Two Shows Remain on August 8 & 15
“The maverick spirit of Las Vegas” is a phrase you'll hear often from Chris Phillips aka Zowie Bowie. The blond haired import from Arizona is living his dream of headlining in Las Vegas. His gigs have varied from tuxedo clad showman doing old standards at Mandalay Bay to ripped jeans, open shirted showman at Red Rock.
Vince Neil and Chris Phillips aka Zowie Bowie certainly brought the "maverick spirit" of Las Vegas to the stage.
For the moment, he has found a home for what is said to be a limited four week engagement in the Windows Room at Bally's. His opening show Thursday, July 25 featured his steady squeeze, the very talented violinist Lydia Ansel from Bella Strings, the controversial Motley Crue front man Vince Neil, the smooth Travis Cloer from Jersey Boys, and his frequent singing partner Neve Milandra, among others.
Cast members from Jersey Boys, Rock of Ages (pictured), and Tony and Tina's Wedding turned out in strong numbers to support Bowie.

Comic magician Mike Hammer (4 Queens) recently served as Roast Master when Zowie Bowie was the Roastee
Beginning with “Once in My Life” Chris sang, chatted, and hailed his show business buddies as he displayed his casual style, huge smile, and practiced swagger through an assortment of songs solo and with the ladies who often sing with Zowie Bowie.
The backing of Lon Bronson and his musicians enhanced the evening. This is Vegas the way it used to be. Women in long dresses, men with jackets and even ties. Elegance, sophistication, and real talent.

Composers Showcase Ready for Another Great Night August 14 at Smith Center
Strip performers, local composers, lyricists and songwriters will come together on August 14 for the monthly Composers Showcase in the Cabaret Jazz Room at the Smith Center.
The participants are experienced in the entertainment industry. The material is original. You may enjoy hearing some of the stars of Jersey Boys sing, but you won't hear a song from the show – or any other show now playing.
This entertainment forum has been presenting original material to supportive audiences for many years. The Showcase is hosted by Keith Thompson (conductor of Jersey Boys) and Michael Brennan (conductor of Le Reve). According to Thompson, “Our focus is on uniting the theatre community of Las Vegas and revealing the creative spirit that abounds in all of tus who are struggling in the desert to findour way to artistic expression. We also attempt to laugh a lot and have a great time.”
This is not an open mic showcase. Rather, it is a carefully planned presentation. The show's late night start at 10:30 p.m. Makes it possible for performers and musicians to paraticpate after their regular jobs.
The ticket price of only $20 makes this one of the best entertainment bargains in town. For tickets, call 702 749 2000 or go online to www.thesmithcenter.com. A cash bar and late night menu are available.
