Have you ever thought about all the different technologies involved in labeling and packaging a container of chocolate? And what does that have to do with Las Vegas? Well, the bi-annual Pack Expo landed in Las Vegas this week and you could have found the answer there.
The show, held in Las Vegas every other year, took place from September 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It is typical of the many specialized industry shows that are held here and help build the local economy.
Think about it. Almost everything comes in a package. It’s a huge industry that touches all of us. And where the Las Vegas economy is concerned, it’s good to report that this year’s attendance increased over 25 % from two years ago and exceeded 25,000 attendees.
Specialized buying delegations from over 25 countries attended the show. Industrial seminars were presented by huge name companies such as Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, and Kelloggs.
DuPont packaging helped sponsor the first ever “Pack Expo Leadership Lecture” which was delivered by General Colin Powell. Over 1,000 attendees were at the sold out lecture. Pack Expo will be back in 2013. Hopefully, some of the attendees who were here on business will be back before then for pleasure.
