Colorado Man Wins $914,175 in Westgate Las Vegas Super Football Contest
A Colorado man, Jack Salinas, beat the odds and beat the professionals to walk away with a cash prize of close to one million dollars in the Westgate Las Vegas Super Football Contest.
Many casinos and sports books in Las Vegas offer a variety of football contests, but the one offered by the SuperBook at the Westagate Hotel and Casino is considered the country's ultimate pro football handicapping contest. Participants pay a $1500 entry fee and then pick five games each week against the spread.Entrants don't have to be a Nevada residents to compete for this monumental prize.
The high entry fee and methodology generally means entrants will be mostly football betting experts and professionals. I have entered several football contests and have difficulty just picking winners without any spreads or point handicaps.
The 2015 contest celebrated its 27th anniversary with 1,727 enteries. Jack Salinas, a resident of Colorado, was the winner with 72% correct choices. His winning percentage is phenomenal and according to Jay Kornegay, the Vice President of the SuperBook is the second highest winning percentage in the contest's history. Salinas received a bonus for having such a high winning percentage.
Kornegay was pleased to present Salinas a check for $914,175 as Jack stood in the Westgate Sports Book surrounded by family members.J He said that the check would represent a life changing event for his family. He plans to use the funds to secure a college education for his three boys, take some vacation time and invest the remainder of the funds carefully.
Kornegay told us that the contest continues to grow in popularity every year. Plans are all ready being made for the 2016 contest. It should be open for entry by July. Just check out the Westgate web site.Do your homework and you could be a winner.
