The recently opened Pete Rose Bar and Grill just across the street from the Aria in the Hawaiian Marketplace shows Pete’s influence in terms of décor and food.
It has all the features of a first class sports bar.  It contains more than 32 high-definition televisions offering sports with the DIRECTVSPORTS PAK.  But this sports bar has a special vibe.  It is filled with art and and historic memorabilia from Pete’s iconic baseball moments.

It's worth a trip just to see the memorabilia

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and looking over the memorabilia was a trip down my memory lane. Newspaper and magazine articles describing highlights in his career such as Pete setting the all time hit record lined the trophy cases.  Articles from Time and Sports Illustrated magazines discussing his career involving baseball were also on display.

Pete told me he plans to be in the restaurant several times a week so customers will have the opportunity to visit with him.  There are only a handful of sports bars that are owned by sports heroes who drop by to mix with fans on a continual basis.

Now to the food. The menu which was developed with HIG Management Corporate Executive Chef Brian Littlejohn is truly unique.  It features food from the three baseball  cities - Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Montreal - where Pete was a baseball fan favorite as he took to the field for the Cincinnati Reds (1963-1978), The Philadelphia Phillies (1979-1983) and the Montreal Expos (1984).

As a Cincinnati native,  I appreciated the restaurant's take on a variety of Cincinnati  chili preparations.  I enjoyed a four way during my visit to the Bar and Grill. For the uninitiated, you can order a three way which includes chili with spaghetti and cheese or take it a step further and make it a four way by adding onions. I closed my eyes and pictured myself back in the “Queen City” at the Empress, Skyline, or Goldstar chili parlors. I found the flavor to be close to a mix of all three, but a bit more peppery. Still, for me it was a nostalgic dish.

I sampled the Pete Rose Special baby back ribs which come with chili and cheese and smothered potato topped with steak. Love the ribs. The sauce was flavorful and the meat fell off the bones just the way I like it. It reminded me of the Montgomery Inn in Cincinnati.

Pete's playing days in Philadelphia are saluted with a classic Philly Cheese Steak with bell peppers, onions, cheese whiz. Pete's days in Montreal Canada are recognized with the Expos Poutine consisting of Fries, brown gravy, and cheese curds. Certainly not a gourmet item but the Canadians might drop in to enjoy something from their home area.

Also on the menu is the intriguing Cass Burger which is fried egg, kimchee and srirach and more familiar ash burger with blue cheese and bacon. I'm hoping to stop back to check out some of the appetizers including Calamari, Cheesy Poofs, Fried Artichoke Hearts, and Deep Fried Jalapeno Rings.

Patrons can eat and drink al fresco on the outdoor patio which faces the Las Vegas Strip. Of course in addition to a large bar and good food, there are television screens galore to take over your attention during sports events. I think Pete Rose will score a home run with this place.
