Sammy Hagar & The Circle Rock The Downtown Las Vegas Events Center

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar and his supergroup The Circle, featuring Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson, took over the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on Sunday night, April 12, for an evening packed with hits from “The Red Rocker” and iconic Van Halen and Led Zeppelin classics.

The night kicked off with an exciting set by local Las Vegas video DJ and emcee, DJ Sally before Derek Stevens, CEO and Co-Owner of DLVEC as well as Downtown Las Vegas properties the D Las Vegas Hotel & Casino and Golden Gate Hotel & Casino took the stage to welcome Hagar back to Downtown Las Vegas, with a special appearance by Food Network star, Guy Fieri.

Attendees sang along to Hagar’s “One Way Ticket to Midnight,” and were blasted to the past with Van Halen’s “Right Now” and “Why Can’t This Be Love,” along with Led Zeppelin’s “When the Levee Breaks.” A roar of applause broke out as the group burst into Hagar’s “I Can’t Drive 55.” At one point during the show, Hagar kept the crowd pumped up by launching a cannon filled with streamers into the audience.

The concert precedes the debut of Sammy Hagar and The Circle’s upcoming album, “At Your Service” that is set for worldwide release on May 18.   A launch party for the anticipated live double album that was recorded during the all-star group’s first North American tour, was hosted at Golden Gate on Friday, April 10, where Hagar and the band greeted fans and premiered the music video for their first single, “Poundcake.”  “At Your Service”  captures Hagar, Anthony, Bonham and Johnson jamming on 19 legendary tracks that span more than 40 years of rock music history.

Additional recent and upcoming “happenings” in and around Las Vegas include:

SHARK REEF AQUARIUM at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino recently introduced two new resident attractions into the 1.3-million-gallon Shipwreck exhibit:  a pair of Scalloped Hammerheads, distinguished by the unusual shape of their heads. Scalloped Hammerheads reside in coastal warm temperate and tropical seas, and can grow up to 14 feet in length, weighing over 300 pounds. Shark Reef Aquarium is one of only three aquariums in the United States that Scalloped Hammerheads call home.“We are fortunate to have these animals in our aquarium for our guests who may never have the opportunity to see them in the wild,” said Rowland. “This experience provides guests with a better understanding of the delicate balance of life in our oceans.” Shark Reef is now home to two species of hammerhead sharks: the Scalloped Hammerhead and smaller Bonnethead Sharks.

The APRIL EDITION OF MONDAYS DARK WITH MARK SHUNOCK will take place 8:30 pm on Monday evening, April 20 at Vinyl inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Marvel fans, assemble! MARVEL UNIVERSE LIVE!  featuring favorite Marvel Super Heroes including Spider-Man, The Avengers (Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk and more) and threatening villains come to life in an action-packed arena extravaganza at the Thomas & Mack Center Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26 for seven performances. CULINARY DROPOUT, located inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, celebrates National Pretzel Day on Sunday, April 26 by donating 100 percent of proceeds from every order of Soft Pretzels and Provolone Fondue ($12) to ANGELMAN SYNDROME FOUNDATION, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing awareness and research for individuals impacted by Angelman syndrome.

GILLEY'S SALOON, DANCE HALL & BAR-B-QUE celebrates its fifth anniversary inside Treasure Island Hotel & Casino with drink specials and live entertainment throughout the month of April. 102.7 The Coyote takes over April 27 at 8 p.m. for a free listener appreciation concert with Cadillac Three. Chad Freeman and Redline Band (April 15-18), Easy 8’s (April 23-25) and Wolfcreek (April 30) will also take turns tearing up the stage. In addition, as part of Gilley’s Rockin’ County Mondays and Thursdays,  Kris Daniels from 102.7 The Coyote gives away tickets to Fan Jam 12 with Sam Hunt on April 22. YACHT CLUB at Drai's Beachclub/Nightclub on top of The Cromwell in the heart of Las Vegas Boulevard takes off on Tuesday, April 21. The nighttime pool party will recur all summer long every Tuesday night from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. with explosive DJ sets and live concerts, thirst-quenching libations, insane party packages and unmatched views of the iconic Las Vegas Strip. Leading the charge on opening night is Drai's resident DJ duo ADVENTURE CLUB; following that, another Drai's resident MAKJ will make his debut on April 28; Cinco De Mayo is certain to rock the boat with a full-length live concert from Chris Brown on his birthday (May 5) plus DJ Sourmilk on the turntables; taking the wheel on May 12 is Sidney Samson & Friends; and resident DJ Borgeous will command the decks on May 19. Magician Master Illusionist Michael Turco  is teaming up with the Wayne Public Library for their annual fundraising event. Turco is bringing his show MAGIC & MAYHEM to Wayne Valley HS Auditorium for two performances on Saturday April 25, 2015 at 3pm and 7pm. MICHAEL TURCO’S MAGIC & MAYHEM is an hour packed show filled with incredible illusions, sleight of hand magic, audience participation, spectacular dancing, hilarious comedy, and Turco’s trademark storytelling. One of the most inspiring movies of our time, “RUDY,” now a one-man show starring Rudy Ruettiger, will make an encore  performance at the Troesh Studio Theater in The Smith Center Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 7 p.m. Ruettiger’s one-man show takes on a journey as he shares his life story of how he accomplished his dream of going to Notre Dame and how he convinced Hollywood to make a movie of his life, which earned him an invitation to the White House. The play includes a multi-media presentation with scenes from the blockbuster movie as well as personnel photos of his family of 14 brothers and sisters. As Ruettiger tells his story, he will share many voices of people who influenced his life as well as naysayers that he confronted on his journey.Comic impressionist Rich Natole will create some celebrity voices such as Bill Clinton when Rudy was invited to the White House and Sylvester Stallone who was among the first to see the screen play and regretted passing on the project after he saw the film and met Ruettiger.   Tickets range from $34 - $39.

International super model, film star, and fashion icon, TYSON BECKFORD, joins the world famous Chippendales as a special guest host for a limited engagement, April 30th through May 24th, 2015, at Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. For four weeks, Beckford will join the acclaimed production injecting even more sex appeal into a cast that is already renowned for having the hottest men in Las Vegas. Chippendales performs nightly at 8:30 p.m., with additional shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 10:30 p.m. Tyson Beckford’s limited engagement runs April 30 through May 24, 2015 (Thursday through Sunday night performances only).  Tickets range from $54.95 to $80.30 + tax and fees (18+).

The College of Southern Nevada’s Fine Arts Department presents a festive performance of MARIACHI MUSIC with CSN’s newest performance ensemble under the direction of Adalberto Garcia, on Monday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre at the Cheyenne Campus. General admission tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. The CSN Performing Arts Center is located at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. in North Las Vegas.

Red Dragon will host the GREAT AMERICAN FOODIE FEST, formerly known as Las Vegas Foodie Fest, from Thursday, April 30, through Sunday, May 3, outside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. The event will be open from 4 p.m. to midnight Thursday through Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.  Great American Foodie Fest will feature more than 50 of the nation’s top food trucks and food vendors. In addition to a wide variety of food and drink options, the festival will feature live DJs along with carnival rides, games, eating competitions and more.

Individual general admission to Great American Foodie Fest will start at $8 per day, or $13 for an unlimited weekend pass, if purchased in advance; and $10 per day, or $15 for an unlimited weekend pass, if purchased at the gate. Active military personnel and veterans, seniors 59 and older, and Clark County first responders will receive a discount of $2 off each ticket purchased at the gate with a valid ID. Individual food and drink items are priced per purchase. Parking will be available at no cost.

GEICO ENDUROCROSS returns to the Orleans Arena on Friday, May 1. The off-road motorcycle race is held entirely indoors, taking riders across a track filled with obstacles including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, giant tires and a water hole. “The toughest racing on two wheels” blends the elements of extreme off-road racing into an exciting Supercross-style course. Thursday, April 30 – See the track build and Arena transformation. Friday, May 1 – Practice takes place from  9 a.m. – 3 p.m., racing begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets start at $38, plus taxes and convenience fees.

Mandalay Resort & Casino and Ninkasi Brewing Company will host a once-in-a-lifetime event, the NINKASI SPACE ODDITY BALL: GROUND CONTROL IMPERIAL STOUT RELEASE PARTY Friday, May 1 at 8 p.m. at eyecandy sound lounge. In honor of International Space Day, Director of Food & Beverage and Nevada’s First Female Cicerone Sarah Johnson, along with Ninkasi Brewing CEO Nikos Ridge will guide guests through the beer tasting notes, discussing the specific components of the beer and how it was created from fermented ale yeast sent to space. The event will be highlighted by lively entertainment and giveaways. Tickets for this event are priced at $50 per person, plus tax and gratuity.Guests must be 21 or older to attend.

SAPPHIRE POOL & DAY CLUB, voted “Best Day Club in Las Vegas” two years in a row, opens for Fun in the Sun on May 1st. Paramount’s Original LASER SPECTACULAR FEATURING THE MUSIC OF PINK FLOYD returns to the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy., at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2. Sammy Hagar’s hard-rockin’ CABO WABO CANTINA, located inside  Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will host a KENTUCKY DERBY VIEWING PARTY beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.  In honor of “the most exciting two minutes in sports,” Cabo Wabo will offer drink specials including Mint Juleps crafted with bourbon whiskey and fresh mint, priced at $8; beer buckets of Dos Equis beers priced at $21; and shot specials.The cantina’s signature menu items and cocktails will also be available for purchase.

PENN & TELLER will join 10,000 Walkers at AFAN's 25th Annual AIDS Walk on Sunday, April 19 that starts near the NW parking lot (near Guitar Center) in Town Square. The 25th Annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas is the largest fundraiser of the year. Last year, more than 10,000 walkers participated, raising nearly $440,000 which will go towards providing unparalleled health expertise, support and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in southern Nevada.

 Sunday, April 12...

Legendary stand-up comedian and actor Louie Anderson was spotted at Blue Man Group inside Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. He went backstage after the performance for a private VIP meet-and-greet with cast members.

 Saturday, April 11...

Actress Hayley Kiyoko and a group of friends celebrated her birthday at TAO. After spending the day at TAO Beach they headed to TAO for dinner where the Hayley was presented with a special  dessert with a sparkler that read “Happy Birthday Hayley.”  Later they headed up to the nightclub where they enjoyed the rest of the night.

Glee actor Kevin McHale and friends were also spotted in the club. Before hitting the nightclub, the group had dinner at LAVO.
