40 Is Not The New 20 starring Matt Kazam Celebrates Grand Opening at The Riviera

Twenty five year comedy veteran Matt Kazam, celebrated the Grand Opening of his one man show, 40 Is Not The New 20, at The Riviera Comedy Club on Wednesday night, September 18. In this hilarious, 70 minute one-man stand-up comedy production Kazam explores how much the world has changed in the past 40 plus years, by targeting everyday topics like marriage, sex, parenting, work, exercise, just to name a few, though the eyes of a 40 year old.

If you remember when there were no smart phones and only three stations on television, this show is for you. Matt puts the notion that 40 is the new 20 on trial and breaks down the concept into categories such as technology, the media, politics, relationships, our priorities and even how our bodies have changed over the years.

Kazam tells it like it is, using his own life experiences and sharp observations to make valid points on every subject using comparisons and contrasts that audiences age 40 and over will relate to. The comedian has definitely honed his craft and at the age of 45, the likable Kazam knows exactly how to make people laugh with spot on comic timing and great material. The result is one very funny show. I can honestly say, I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time.

Matt Kazam has performed in many of America’s top comedy clubs, casinos and theaters. With more than 6,000 stand-up performances in 45 states under his belt, Kazam has the ability to work any crowd in any venue. New York native, Kazam who was born in the Bronx, began performing shows for his family and friends at the age of three, but it wasn’t until graduating college that he took the plunge as a full-time comedian. He’s made several television appearances, including NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” FOX’s “Big Red Couch” and “Comedy Central’s “Stand-up Stand-up,” among others.

Showtimes for  40 Is Not The New 20 is 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday (dark on Sunday). Tickets are $40 plus tax and applicable fees. Guests must be 18 years or older with valid ID.

Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Celebrate the Arrival of Fall With Harvest Display

Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens has unveiled a new display welcoming the arrival of fall with scenery, scents and sounds that celebrate the crisp season. On display through November 30, the harvest show features fall favorites including pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, oversized orange-yellow leaves as well as more than 51,000 seasonal flowers.

Bellagio 1

The centerpiece of the harvest display, a 40-foot-tall watermill creates a soothing environment as it pumps water into the pond below. Nearby, a 10-foot-tall papa bear and 6-foot-tall baby bear frolic in a pumpkin patch alongside two oversized floral apples, each made with more than 1,200 red carnations. Each bear’s “fur” is coated in reindeer moss while colorful hydrangeas and yarrow adorn their vests.

Creating a stunning pathway and photo opportunity for guests at the entrance of the Conservatory, two glittering pergolas are complemented by twinkling birch trees and water arches illuminated with fall colors.

In the North Garden, a 28-foot-tall enchanted talking tree welcomes guests to the Conservatory. Decorated with autumn leaves and oversized acorns, the tree’s branches and roots provide a home for a few playful animated squirrels. An elegant trough with colorful dancing water and flowers sits amongst the roots as two horses, comprised of floral hydrangeas, yarrow and dune grass, rest nearby.

Guests will encounter a 12-foot-tall harvest basket abundant with seasonal delights along with pumpkins ranging in size from 450 to 1,200 pounds in the South Garden. Two mystical wooden forest creatures stand guard over the basket, tending to the pumpkin harvest that spills out to the garden. Nearby another mythical figure, standing 10 feet tall, beckons guests closer to the gathering.

Two live 45-minute musical performances take place daily from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 - 6:30 p.m., filling Bellagio’s Conservatory with sounds of violins, harps and flutes. Guests will enjoy a violin solo Sunday through Thursday and a flute and harp duo Fridays and Saturdays.

In conjunction with the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art’s exhibit “Painting Women,” the Conservatory has created a floral interpretation of Georgia O'Keeffe’s Red Tree, Yellow Sky using 1,200 mixed cut flowers. Located in the Giardini corner, the recreated painting is fitted within a 6-foot-tall elaborately carved frame.

On view through November 30, the harvest display at Bellagio’s Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is complimentary to the public.
